I for one have learned more in here than any book or school I have ever read or been to. I have MANY BOOKS.. Yes, this old man has two Masters degrees. Electronics and English (My language so I have cheated a bit). I had no money to do better! I for one think you are ALL the greatest! Even the post I have downloaded that did not fit my needs at the time. I still learned something. Good AND bad.. Both helpful to my way of thinking. I AM NOT a professional programmer or even try to make money doing it. I just code for FUN! AND ME!. I love to see what wokks in my programs and what does not. Both may be perfect code but not corect at what I am doing at the time. I love to see if I can do better (as in most times make it less that what was posted).. I thank you all for the knowledge..
Just me at will_george something

Just a thanks to all that have provided code for us to think about. -
Programmers of the pastI would think they would be the 'same as they are now'.. Thinkers AND Have fun trying to to whatever comes to mind... It WAS MUCH easier with a Intel 4004! Well, except for the memory limits!

Adobe Product ActivationI saw .. What kind of music should programmers listen to? From your post I'd say the 'BLUES'.. (I love it but just me) Thanks I loved your post! I 'WAS' going to get Vista!

What will be the algorithm of your programI'd use 3D Pie Chart By Julijan Sribar. Found on the Code Project!
-
What will be the algorithm of your programdata.read() data.process() If(Cherry) data.draw_piechart(Cherry) elseif (blueberry) data.draw_piechart(bluebarry) elseif(fruit) ......... SORRY I just had to!

Numerical Recipes in C#The former link is also mentioned in the latter. So it might be. LOL.. Got me to 'CLICK'

Travelling Salesman Problemnot doing their own homework.. I sort of agree BUT in my math classes (which I take just because I love frustration) I have used comments/code from 'other' sources that got me a reasonable grade.. Sometimes FAILED using it! BUT it gave me insight to things I never knew before. Nuff Said. -- modified at 8:51 Wednesday 8th November, 2006 I'm adding this because I'm old and hit the Post Message Button before I was finished. I wanted to say that I can do almost anything with my hands without hardly thinking except draw/paint. My Mom can paint anything.. All I get is a blob! Must be the Math in drawing objects! One time I carved a almost perfect Elephant in wood that everybody I know just LOVES it.. I have no idea how I did it.. I carved while watching Twilight Zone or something.. Not everybody that asks a question is asking for homework for you to do.. Well, maybe AOT but what does that matter? Their 'homework' will work out in the end when they cannot do the job.. BUT.... maybe somebody out there will become a Great Enginner or Banker keeping 'the books' on YOUR bank account!

Travelling Salesman ProblemThere are C++ versions available as well.. That is what I have! I really did not fing <<< (I thought I typed FIND) it hard to translate it to C# Well, the graphic part was a bit of a problem though. I only mentioned this book because I'm sort of stupid at math (but I love to try!) and this book at least made me think I knew what I was doing!

Travelling Salesman ProblemHi, iam the mathematics person.can anyone give me the problem so i can sure help on it. please give me the problem then i will think on it...... Hi, I'm the mathematics person. Can anyone give me a problem? I'm sure I can help you with it. I changed some of the English... LOL.. Not that I am a expert on it. I have been doing it for only 65+ years. I still get it all wrong! Really! There is NO HATE HERE toward anybody.. I just thought it was funny from my point of view. I have a strange mind and had a good laugh. Good way to start a day. Thank You! By the way, I know no other language except my Chicago style English. I'm in wonder of people that speak or write in other languages! Amazing! I have a 'TIN' ear and cannot get the 'words' spoken in my brain. I'm about as poor at Math as my English! Anyway... My question, which I'm sure is stupid. (I have no shame so I'll ask it anyway.) I hope I can explain what I am thinking of.... Using Trig in a C# program or other (I mention C# because it is what I usually use now) I see strange results on what I try to do. (I would assume it is me) BUT I had this thought in my little old brain. The way I see it, Trig. is based on a true circle. However when I make a picturebox, panel or other it is always some sort of square or rectangle with my bitmap or Draw object within it. (Does Microsoft have a true circle Control?) If I want a theta, I 'think' it is sort of based on the mouse/joystick input from the picturebox/panel/whatever which is a square/rectangle.. What am I missing? I'm lost. Bless YOU!

Travelling Salesman ProblemI SHOULD NOT reply because I'm SO BAD at Math.. but I had to! I found one Open Source program.. There are MANY out on the NET. http://sourceforge.net/projects/jcconvenant I only responded to this because this is the only Math subject I ever got a 'A' in.. I had the C# code I used for the grade but I cannot find it. (You would be more than welcome to it BUT.. I'm affraid it's lost) It has been been awhile since it was made. Sorry! As I remember it took me forever to get it right. If it helps, I found a book at the time which 'at least made me understand the subject' Algorithms In C, Third addition, Graphic algorithms, Part 5, by Robert Sedgewick, Addison-Wesley

Scientists try to ruin holloweenHalloween.. Another day to celebrate.. I think most of us folks just do it for FUN (We get Candy) and do not think to seriously about it... Only Witch I ever saw was my grade school Math teacher! Why I'm so bad at MATH!

When I'm right...I'm rightHilaly attended prayers at the Lakemba Mosque on Friday but did not give thesermon. Surrounded by dozens of supporters as he left the mosque, Hilaly said hewould not resign. "After we clean the world of the White House first," he said when asked directly byreporters when he would stand down. I could be wrong and usually IS... BUT WHY CANNOT WE ALL GET ALONG without killing each other? Punch In The Nose OK if you don't break it.. Really! Life is to short and I'm close to the end of mine..

Poll time....have PhD's I do in 'Life of Hard Knocks!' Otherwise, I went to grade school! Just a comment.. My Son-In-Law is a Professor? or close to it, in Early Child Education... Hard for a Father-In-Law.. who 'took' one of my Daughter away... but I LIKE him ALOT! He is so smart! I get in conversations with him to try to get him mad at me and he hands me a lolypop! He is the greatest! AND he loves Hard Rock?

OK .. So Math Was is NOT my best subjectSO SORRY I voted a 1 when I should have Voted a 5! I told you I was STUPID! At first glance my brain said 1 was THE BEST.. Thank You.. DO not be to harsh on me.. I'm really a nice old man..

OK .. So Math Was is NOT my best subjectGeee. I have to ask such a simple question but I AM SURE you folks are ALOT smarter than me! Especially at math! (But I work with with my hands like a Master!) Anyway, seemed so simple untill I tried to do it.. LOL.. Lets say you have a Joystick that inputs 0 to 1000 units. I want to limit the output to some variable (To keep it simple I'll use whole numbers) to some variable such as 40, 50, 60 etc. that gives a output that is from 0 to this variable in equal units? I'm so STUPID at Math! Sorry my Left or Right brain not working for this simple problem!

what we writeint a; int *p=&a Not sure. But think it is unsafe code, As I remember it worked in the old Bell Labs 'C'. Sorry, I just had to.. No hate here.. Just sort of 'funnin' ya!:-D

I have a strange with my computers. I chose C# because that is what I mostly do!I have posted my broblem in several place.. No replys that fixed anything. I am not sure how this began BUT I have it on several computers I have. Three running XP home, One XP Media, and One running Linux and XP Pro (which crashed!) so it is sitting in the corner! My only thought is I have a bluetooth dongle from LINK-SYSTEMS (not blaiming them) A DBT-120 that loaded a Toshiba stack. Nothing wrong with it but I wanted to use the the Microsoft stack. Anyway, .. Using // Reference registry hive. Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey hklm = Microsoft.Win32.Registry.LocalMachine; Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey myportsregKey = hklm.CreateSubKey("Hardware\\Devicemap\\Serialcomm\\"); Used to return my bluetooth port COM: ports. The string returns a garbage character at the end of the COM?? string. I'm using something like //Display value names found in registry foreach (String valueName in myportsregKey.GetValueNames()) { String toport; ////////////////////////////// // THIS string is returned OK toport = valueName; toport += " .. "; // just a separator // Display ports data found in resistry // Note that I have seen the extra character as a number. // Example" PORT8 will display as PORT81.. Or some strange character // It really screws you up trying to open port 81 when it's really port 8! // String for my bluetooth ports are returned corrupted toport += myportsregKey.GetValue(valueName); portList.Items.Add(toport); } YES! I KNOW YOU FOLKS CAN DO BETTER! NOT ME! Anyway, if I use regedit I can type anything I want into the REG_SZ and it will return as I typed it. BUT, if I reboot and try this I get the extra character after the COMM port. I assume the registry is written to updating the serial ports. I WOULD SURE LIKE TO SOLVE THIS. Reinstalling everything on my computers IS NOT A OPTION!

Programmers need not know the command line any more??Geeeeeee. I think I gave that up after CPM? Well, it was before DOS I 'think'.. Then you had to write your boot sector to even use your 4 bit Intel chip! Well, As I remember it.. I'm old so I get things mixed up!:sigh:
