I am in Oregon near Portland. I am Irish from my mother. My great grandparents, on her dad's side, immigrated here. My dad's surname has been here since 1600s. I did a 23andMe and I am white mixed with white to the 99.9%. There is a .1% unassigned which I would love to know what it is but.... Also I am more Neanderthal than most. I don't know what that means.

What's the worst car you ever owned?1980 something Chrysler LeBaron Turbo. Bought it from my grandmother in law (took it and gave money, cuz she couldn't see at night and still drove by following the white lines on the side of the road) with 32k miles in 1997. Drove in such a way as to never engage the turbo cuz the car shook like crazy when under acceleration. Parked in the garage one night shortly after having bought it. 15 minutes later our garage was on fire. The fuel line had broken and dripped onto something hot and ignited. Burned the garage and part of the kitchen. The grandmother in law, when she found out we got more in insurance for the car than what we paid her, wanted the extra money. She was a piece of work too.

At what point will he get the message? The idiots are the people who go and pay to see the movies. His movies make money. As long as they make money, he will continue making them. When they stop paying then he will get the message. - 10th grade social studies

If you didn't get paid for it, would you still write code? [modified]5: I believe that is how I got started in programming in the first place. I was doing construction and writing software for my own amusement at night. Drove my wife nuts until she suggested I do it for a living. It appears that was good advice. Thanks Dear.

Cassini imagesStunning Pics! Yes it is a very good time to be a space nerd. I was actually in florida for a VBits convention when Cassini launched. Myself and 3 other devs did the midnight run from orlando to cape canaveral to see a very early launch. And now we see the fruits of that launch. Thanks for the link.

32-bit or 64-bit Windows?Daniel Desormeaux wrote:
> I'll assume Vista since XPx64 has a bad enough reputation that you wouldn't even contemplate it. Says who? First time I hear this. I use XP x64 on my primary machine at home (used for dev/games/whatever I can throw at it), and I think it kicks ass. Given a choice between XP x86, XP x64, and Vista (any flavor), I'll choose XP x64 every single time. I think it's the best Windows version short of using Server 2003 for a dev OS. I can't think of any single piece of hardware I own that doesn't have proper drivers. Well, maybe some ancient video cards, but if I really have to use such old hardware, it'll be used in another box anyway and I'll carry on with my life instead of antagonizing over such things.
A whole-hearted Hazzah to you! XP x64 is the best OS I have used and I have tried Vista (32 and 64 bit). Driver issues are beat by shopping smart and doing your research. By the way XP 64 bit is Server 2k3. at least the kernal. I will say it again. It is the most stable and fastest OS from the MS Windows shelf.

So I know this guy...Me too. I am a better googler than I am a programmer. Fortunately there are better programmers found in the google vision.

Monitor size questionHome = Work. I have a 22" running 1680 x 1050. I have a friend who has 2 20" running the same res. he is also a programmer and I will admit it might be nice to have 2 but I don't NEED it. His company provided them. I have to pay for my own.
