Must agree here...

I'm curious to know how many CP members are avid golfers, or follow the sport. I only learned through forced middle school American gym class. [Insert large audible sigh.]

I have not looked at other comments, but only the link itself. I've learned to trust NOTHING bought from Wally World.

I was a Journalism major before Computer Science as I took may courses in my local high school and summer camps for that topic. Mike Wallace was my FAVE tv journalist, as I posted on my FB account early this morning. For those who know me....I know how the ability to restart my CP "career." Will start updating signature and other stuff shortly.

Have you ever been in a conference room where it ran a few minutes over the allotted time? During those minutes over did you view a person in glass around the door pacing back and forth only to stare at you with the implicit need for fish food, I mean, starting the meeting on time? You just found someone who was Goldfishing...a person who is so uber-anxious to be part of the on-time meeting they try to display themselves in the glass in some way to get you out of the conference room, like that will give that goldfish some extra credit with the managing goldfish.

Hey Nish, sorry for the belated response, but this is the user ID i've had for ages. I recently realized I have to update my current company and such, but I think I've always been leckey76 (unless I was just leckey at some point...insert Inception sequence with a matrix with my narcolepsy...)

This reason is why I avoided buying a house within a Homeowner Association jurisdiction. The one we seriously looked at, had a bound book thicker than some of my undergraduate classes. The HOA will be relentless until you comply with their rules, or move. I swear people who govern HOA's are people with a too-checkered past to run for government, but want the authority.

I don't know what's worse...posing a "brain tester" on a Saturday night, or trying to figure it out on a Saturday night.

Hey, I'm part of that weird cross-over generation who knows the term "whippersnapper," who hates kids on my lawn, knows the lyrics to the black-and-white TV show Mr. Ed, knows what a ghost driver is, and also an internet meme. Pants are still optional.

Okay, I am closer to 40 than 30, but I know what an internet meme is. Over the last few months it seems like I've had to explain what a meme is to everyone I've come in contact with, even those whose age falls into Generation Y. How do you define a meme to those who do not understand? What do you reference as a meme? (Currently I am on a Nyan Cat fix.) Any meme's that you think are really "underground" but are note-worthy?

Totally agree. I actually consulted a rabbi about piercings and tattoos. (I'm Reform, so he said that piercings were okay since the holes could disappear, but not tattoos.)

Yes, CP is lacking in women in general. During the last 3 years I have been really active and completely off the grid for several months. We have some regular women in other countries, but I think I've been one of the main ones from the US.

I have not read the other responses, but I have learned that VB6 will live on like cockroaches after the apocalypse. No matter how you yell, scream, shudder, convulse, complain, cry....VB6 will exist....forever.

I think the schooling depends on where the author lives. I know here in the midwest, many companies won't consider you without a college degree. On the East Coast several years ago, you needed "certification" versus a degree. Personally I did not have a computer internship in college. I used to joke while looking for my first graduation job, that I had a degree in Computer Science and could neuter a cat under 10 minutes. (I was a vet tech.) As a college freshman the internet was still new and shiny and I remember having mandatory classes and I was more advanced than the "teacher." I think it's hard for managers these days to decide on hiring people because young applicants these days have grown up with the internet, developing applications, and just having the access to programming computers, if that's what they want, like those of us of the X-Generation and before, never had. Think about Baby Boomers, Generation Xers, and those today (sometimes called Generation Y) and how their general computer experience differs. A Generation Y person with no formal education may seem like a threat to a Baby Boomer.
