To be honest, I don't use 3rd party controls. I also don't use the designer. It's less productive for me and my team. And, when we have attempted to used 3rd party controls, there was always something that didn't work quite right and we resorted to jQuery and got exactly the functionality we needed without the cost and in less time overall. That being said, The ASP.NET MVC team has said that this framework is really for a minority of developers. Therefore, if you don't like it, don't use it.

Hi there, In fact, the header and footer (also pager) are not included in the Rows collection of the GridView control, so the RowIndex property of those rows does not have meaning, and it's simply set to -1.

Unforunately, 90% of our customers are fine with MSDE from a size and performance perspective. Tacking on the SQL Server license on top of our fees would kill most deals. These are typically smaller operators, and they watch every penny. We're talking some that use dial-up to send their transaction data back to the corporate server as a batch after hours over the main number rather than pay for DSL or a second phone line.

What you need is Acronis True Image[^]. It's fantastic piece of software which allows you to create an image of your current installation from with Windows. You can then boot from the recovery CD and restore the image. The image can be on another internal HSS, an external (USB or firewire) HDD or DVD. You can even put the restore cd and the image to restore on the same DVD to make it even easier. Cheers James

Good ol' management at work. It's one program you have to run to register the 1.0 framework with IIS again if 1.1 is installed. For that matter does the .NET framework even auto-register with IIS? I seem to always need to run iisreg_net. They are missing the whole point of being able to have multiple versions of the framework installed. That's why I love the ability for apps to know what version they need as opposed to the java way of doing things which is to always ship the version you built on with your product to ensure things work.
