I've created a windows service that as the time passes it start to consume a lot of memory. I'm using a managed zlib library for compression (one published here). I tried to force a garbage collection but it doesn't work. Question is: can I send a restart command to the service from within the service ? I have a Windows Service running in the same server as SQL Server. This service uses lot of resources (basically memory). The problem is that at some point, SQL Server uses almost all the available memory in my server. The service runs a memory intensive process from time to time, and I constantly receive an "OutOfMemory" exception (sql server is not leaving much available memory for my service to do its tasks). My service needs about 20MB of free memory, and my question is: Is there any way to pre-alocate this amounth of memory to my service. When I use the Fill method of a DataAdapter it creates the table structure in my dataset. It also brings the PrimaryKey information about that table to the dataset. My question is: is there anyway to bring the "foreign key" information about the table columns ? I need to change the secuirty settings of an IIS Virtual dir programatically. I have to disable annonymous login and leave only integrated secuirty enabled. Does anyone know how can I do this ? I'm doing some test with sql connection polling using sqlconnection object. I've read some articles stating that the Dispose method of the connection removes the connection from the pool, but in my tests the Dispose doesn't remove it from the pool (I'm checking the audit logout event in the SQL Trace). The audit logout only happens when I close the application. My question is... does the dispose method remove the connection from the pool or not !?
