We have a full set of manuals for UniData (18 volumes plus one just as an index to all the others) from 1993. It cost a small fortune way back then and has hardly ever been used. So supplying the manuals at an extra cost is nothing new.

  • Is 99 cents per song a fair price for music?
    M Member 4604561

Some of the 'B' sides were better than the 'A' sides. Not only that but with a single you had a piece of plastic in your hands that you could play over and over again and on any record machine. So 99 cents for something tangible is much better value than 99 cents for a download!

Education is the thing. However, have you ever noticed how short an attention span children have these days? As soon as you mention something that they don't want to hear then they shut off. Our eldest learnt by his own mistakes and didn't really slow down until the Fraud Squad came to our house. I think the more we go on about something the more our children will ignore us.

Why on earth do people have to label our childhood heroes as being gay? They're just animations for crying out loud! I remember when the Americans didn't want to take Andy Pandy because they said he was gay (wandering about in his pyjamas) but how many gay activists are that young? Poor Andy would have been dressed by his mum, does that mean she was trying to send out a message or just dessing her child? What the hell is wrong with people? Rolf Harris never inferred anything when he sang Two Little Boys so why did people have to make it into a gay song? Wake up and smell the coffee! Are these characters gay because you want them to be???

I'd have to spend a few months going through my collection to make my choice and then a few more months listening to some that are not in my collection but I wish I did have, then a few more months listening to the recommendations of others, then....

I've never been there but my dad should have been but wasn't. It just goes to show how times have changed. My dad bought my mum a washing machine one year, a spin dryer the next, the latest vacuum cleaner the next, and so on until she progressed to a colour television (it was the latest thing, BBC programmes used to be announced as "Now, from the BBC in colour!") and that was when it all changed!

Elvis should be in history lessons. Freddie Mercury is still very current (my kids are constantly asking me to play Queen songs in the car) as is most of the sixties music. But they should still be taught how today has been shaped by the music of yesterday.

I think this probably helped enourmously "Mr Obama has promised a tax cut to 95% of Americans" In Britain the people have become wise to this sort of bribery. They know that when taxes go down other 'taxes' go up, and usually by a damn sight more to cover the cost of administration.

I don't know if his has been said, but I feel that once you have less than 50% of the original members, you cannot use the band name.

The majority of bands consist of one or two people being 'backed up' by the rest of the members. If the key person(s) go on tour then you would expect them to use the original name. Would you be more likely to go and see 'Bob and the Gardeners' or 'Led Zeppelin'?
