Boxing DayTommorrow (26th December) is Boxing Day here... another national holiday. :) Not too sure about its origin... I think it is the day when people are supposed to put or "box" away presents. Does anyone else celebrate Boxing Day or get this day as a holiday?:)

Joining the Milk campaign...hi.. I drink that all the time! :) (I also eat pizza with ketchup..) For the drink I use evaporated milk and Coke or Pepsi. We also have a softdrink called "Cream soda" here... I put milk in that too. It should be cold and you should pour the coke first and let the fizz come out a bit..

How do you pronounce SQL?I think people are always wondering about the "right" way to pronounce this! :) I say "ES-QUE-EL".. or "SEE-Quell". I would use it depending on what I'm talking about.. e.g. "ES-QUE-EL" SERVER... and SEE-QUELL plus... :)

Global Attitudes & the perception of the USYes, true there are ignorant jackasses everywhere in the world... but Americans are always bringing attention to themselves, so you tend to see what some people are like there.. America is more highlighted. And from what I see as an outsider is that a some of the people there are really ignorant... so "clueless"! And yes, the topic is a bit old, but that doesn't change what a lot of people think about Americans.
-
Global Attitudes & the perception of the USI believe that most Americans don't even know how to think for themselves... If someone says something, and it sounds good they all jump on the band wagon... Most of the world think Americans are stupid... and for some reason, Americans always think they are right and superior! They are not qualified to play the role of a global anything... especially when most are so ignorant they don't even know what is going on in their own country... They'll never even figure out that there is more to the world than where they live..

Edit box questionHi, I have 2 edit boxes on a dialog box. I have associated two member variables for these edit boxes. However, the variables don't seem to get the data I type in the boxes. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Smacking to be outlawed ???Why are you so defensive and touchy? You post something here and ask about how things are in different countries.. then you critise. When I used the word "beat", I meant "beat". When I said, "smack".. I meant "smack". In this country, people still "beat" children! Why can't I enter this debate if I don't have children? You are not the only man with a child! I have cousins, friend's children who look up to me... I've been a child! You are not very open-minded.

Smacking to be outlawed ???They only stopped beating children in schools here early last year! A lot of people were against this, but my opinion is that some teachers were going too far. We followed the British school system, but I think Britain stopped this practise long before we did. There is no law here that says you cannot beat your children. Some children are abused like everywhere else. Some people have even given other people (close neighbour, aunt etc) the right to discipline/punish their children if they think the child is doing something wrong. In my opinion, at least in this country, people need to be more educated about different and more effective ways to discipline a child. They also need to realise that children are human beings too. On the other hand, a small smack may be necessary sometimes.. for example, when a child decides to push his whole head out of a moving vehicle. I don't have any children, by the way. I don't think you need to have children to form an opinion about what is the right way to discipline a child.

Dialog Box questionThat didn't work, same 5 errors. I know C++ is case sensitive, that's why I put it in all caps. The class is in all caps. I'm going to delete the class and start again.. and give it a name that doesn't start with C! Is that a good idea? Thank you so much for your help!:rose::rose:
