Worth a 5 right there... I am sure both my co-workers and manager find it odd I never exercise my work from home option. But I like keeping "work" out of the home as much as possible.

I also vote an HTC phone... Personally waiting on the Touch Pro 2 ( Link ) which is to be released this summer in North America. I have its way older predecessor, the HTC TyTN and up to this day even though its outdated it probably is the best phone I've ever had so far!

You'll get over that feeling, you just probably feel as you have given up... I had a similar situation at the beginning of my career where the stress was killing me. Started only getting 4 hours of sleep on weekdays and staff members began nitpicking. Well I gave my 2 weeks noticed, and now I feel I am in a way better situation than before. A proper team, better work ethics and work/life balance and I honestly can be proud of what I do... So chin up, don't look back and keep moving forward. The worse thing you could do is just give up and do nothing about your stressful situation! :-D (Oh and if your wondering, I heard from a colleague at the company I left that 6 months later, more than half the staff was replaced or left... Guess I wasn't the only one feeling stressed out! )

Let me start of by saying I love this forum and the topics discussed in the lounge. And find some of the members here as great and interesting individuals (leckey your ok in my books, however based on what I read in your blog, I don't think I ever want to be near you in a cash out lineup...) My question is how the members frequent this site so much. I tried to keep up with the discussions in this forum and either my eyes started giving out, or I wasn't getting work done at work! How do you people do it, whats the secret? (I added the RSS feed to a blog reader and that kept me from missing topics but keeping up with the lounge is a full-time job!)

  • California IT environment... Relaxed or Rushed?
    R Rick Seenarine

Hi, I was just wondering, what the typical atmosphere a developer in California can expect? Are most developer/programmer jobs in California (the San Fransisco or Bay area) relaxed where there is a work life balance or is it more of a "your life belongs to the company" atmosphere?

Are they pulling this same sleazy tactic with their free version, or does it just sit quietly and do the job?

To answer your questions: I've started noticing that when I log into my Administrator privilege account, I get the web browser pointing to a "You can buy the regular version at" advertisement. It usually occurs whenever I log in. When I log into my User privilege account however, I don't get the web browser with the advertisement. Selective advertisement.... I dunno if I'd call it sleazy as they do have a right to promote there software. I wish they did give the option of "don't show me this again" (which would probably be a cookie setting that would get replaced/lost everyday I clean my browser cache:doh:).

    R Rick Seenarine

    Balboos wrote:

A MSDN subscription is a user license. You (if you're the regestered user) can install the software on multiple machines for your use (only).

Just curious, on that point, if your using a user license provided by your company then anything made with that dev tool (whether for research or open-source) would be the property of the company no? If the author of the thread is aiming to build technology to either sell or promote himself (therefore independent of work requirements) then this may not be a route to go.

  • CodeProject addiction will kill me one day
    R Rick Seenarine

Reminds me of the time my mother was steaming some vegetable and the steamer pot exploded! Good thing is she was away from the explosion and the force of, bad thing was it cracked our stove's top, and the kitchen walls, roof and cupboards were covered with vegetables! The ironic thing was the pot was clean however... Anyways the above probably tells you I'm living with my parents (when I get an actual secure job that doesn't bore me I'll move), but when I think of it my diet will be just BREAD. Bread and butter for bfast, bread and peanut butter for lunch and dinner. I should thank you actually, I've now realized all I need in my kitchen is a toaster, and a fridge for the butter

  • Cars.... ..... ..... .... suck
    R Rick Seenarine

Bought a new car in Sept 2006, so i've been luckly. But I know what you mean, sometimes, the labour is insane just for a $2 part! I suggest you search on car forums to see if what you need to fix is simple enough that you can do it yourself. With a little time you might save yourself some cash and have a feeling of pride that you did it yourself..... Until it breaksdown when you drive it!
