  • Good Thoughts and Joke for a break...
    S Sam_c

the break every 2hour is good :) having to talk/joke with people would annoy me, you know when your on the deadline(or behind) a joke doesnt help what so ever:mad:. anyhow i'd rather go get a drink and if there is a pretty lady in the office(secretary) i could talk and joke with them instead of talking about WORK with my colleges in my break :) a break is a good way to let your subconscious figure out the problem(s):-D

    S Sam_c

 i need to see some better shots of this... doesnt look that... well... usable to me. i think 3d models using lasers are a bit more interesting :) still see your point, though everything high tech seems to get either the Star wars or Star trek slant when the media isnt that interested.

  • Arguing with the bank ...
    S Sam_c

Not a bad reply from the bank could of been worse "what were you doing messing with our software" etc hopefully the development team will change that and make it in the local user area. was the key of importance to the overall access to the bank account? if so why on earth are they leaving important info on the machine? my banks ebanking is via https and doesnt install anything, just a few hoops of logging on i need to jump through.

designing, specifying, communication, managing, testing Indeed, it's the first five steps that are the crucial steps to preventing reworking/re-doing. But nobody does the first 5 steps.

Sure is, i have noticed that with personal project I often miss designing and getting a good solid spec down. that’s the job of management to ensure that the 5 steps are done and kept to. well said and definitely true.

  • Do most developers prefer to work alone or on a team
    S Sam_c

depends on the team depends on my role (i like to be the boss, but never happens as i know squat:rolleyes:) depends on the task (does each developer work on a key component and then they are meant to work together to magically link these components to a single app, or do a number of dev's have to work together with differing ideas for the same goal) my view on groups, is they are fine as long as there is a good manager and good spec's to follow.

  • To shave or not to shave that is the question...
    S Sam_c

depends on the client.. if its the first time your meeting i defo would go home and have a shave and change of cloths. it shows you care ;) if its an old client you know well then you will know if its acceptable. nothing wrong with being smart everyday thats what weekends are for to let it all go :-D

  • Where's the Glory to be Found?
    S Sam_c

yeah that’s pretty much it though if i was a boss i'd treat my team and give them an equal share of any lime light, if there were bugs i'd take the rap and give the programmers equal shares of the pain. but then i can sort of program so i doubt i'd get employed as a manager now as i know to much. but it would be harder to pull the wool over my eyes when the programmer says it's possible and i know it isn’t. :)

    S Sam_c

i like vista, but i havent made the move yet, main dev systems are XP pro and test system is vista (i do like a lot about vista, but to be honest most of what i like could be in XP as a service pack) i dont like like having a laptop that only rates at 4.1 :((
