  • Extreme Sickness
    S srt7

You are right...there's no point ranting about it. When I see inhuman things like "beheading of civilians" by terrorists it makes me angry. But when I see pictures like these and read of the inhuman tactics deployed by Americans it dissapoints me to a very great extent. Its like comparing crooks and good people...a crook is a crook and its not surprising if the crook behaves like one but it gets disgusting when good people act like crooks. Not to get too philosophical but everyone has to answer for their deeds ...coz someone up there is watching us. It really doesn't matter if its a prison guard or the Prez himself....everyone has to answer. Regards, SRT

Does anyone here work for a university ???....I wonder how the environment in terms of speed of work etc. is when compared to the industry An acquaintance of mine once told me that one of the perks of working in a higher ed. environment is the laid back attitude...I wonder if that is true for all universities? The Lounge com question

  • How do you start your day at the office?
    S srt7

would anyone like to share their first 30 mins at the office? I basically get in about 20 to 30 mins early and spend all that time checking my emails and reading the news. The next 15 mins or so goes in planning out the next 8 hrs of the day. Yesterday I arrived a little late (according to my time)...so I lost that 20-30 mins...since this was very rare I was wondering if I should have started the same way (as usual) or is it unethical etc. since I was late. Back in India this is widely accepted. But ofcourse things are getting westernized now and so this is also being frowned upon. For Indians in the USA the situation is mostly like this: Parents/In-laws visit their children for a month or two and then go back to India. This happens about once in 2 years. One of the main reason is because parents tend to get bored out here in the US with no friends and no freedom of transportation. Frankly when I was waiting to start my first job I had a 2 week preparation time...that was the most boring part of my stay in the USA. David Letterman once said "You know you've been home for a long time when Dr. Phil starts to make sense." Regards, SRT

Well...so we are talking about a career in programming. I see it like this...anyone with certain basic skills can pick up a book and start off programming and in a year/two will be good at it. In the last decade millions over the world have done this ... some for fun...others for money...but the competition in this field is stiff only because there are so many of them. Regards, SRT
