I guess VSTS folks don't like visiting their DR's either. VSTS Impact due to Datacenter Outage in South Central US – Service Blog – Visual Studio Team Services[^]

To go to DR or not? -
nHibernate still better than EFBest I can say is take a look at NH or it's parent Hibernate. It'll give you an idea where a lot of the EF functionality came from.
-
nHibernate still better than EFYes, that is kind of how the industry works. Only enough documentation to keep the EU off your back. Write books/online videos/articles/etc to fill in the blanks. Show me the $$$$.
-
nHibernate still better than EFI guess recently I miss SessionLess or whatever it was called in nHibernate. I know there's ways to set that up in EF, just a few extra steps. I miss being able to choose the concurrency strategy, ie use this DateTime field, increment this integer field, use sql server TimeStamp, and so on.

nHibernate still better than EFAll these years and revisions later, does nHibernate still offer more?

User interface ideasDepends on the sophistication of the end user. For most end users the paradigm used by PivotViewer is about the limit. For higher end uses, it becomes tough to code and some BI and reporting tools are more what they are after. Who'd want an end user writing queries against an online oltp db? There's my 2 cents.

What Language Features Do You Miss In C#?Isn't there something like this in the threading area of .Net? And I believe there's discussions on this regarding going across domains.
-
What Language Features Do You Miss In C#?LOL...your right. There's inline IL...just looks sort of like assembly.
-
What Language Features Do You Miss In C#?Enum that supports other types, not just integral types. A required tag on the end of block regions. Why? Cause it can become a bitch knowing which '}' belongs with what after a while and folks are too lazy to comment. Or VS could get better and put a comment there for you. But then this isn't about VS. Improved Friend relationships between DLL's. Current way of setting up Friend relationships is awkward.

What Language Features Do You Miss In C#?I believe that's been there since version 1.0

Update VS Help documentation - new qualification for MVP?Yep, having another frustrating moment of crappy VS/.Net HELP. So here's a suggestion, add to the mysterious MVP criteria "fix up 100+ items on the MSDN Library every year" and make it a requirement. Ya, no proof, no MVP. And they have to start with those that are in-accurate, incomplete, and not telling you how or why you need to use the dang method/property/etc. If they are lucky, they'll finish before the US cleans up it's deficit.

Microsoft Surface RT PricingSeems pricey. Definitely not priced for consumer market penetration. The keyboard cover looks like it will break (just beyond the warranty) Samsung or Kindle will probably be the winners this Christmas for consumers.
-
Why did Microsoft make the Entity Framework open source?Providing us the code helps them to fix bugs and introduce new features slowly. Though, I really think its a ploy to have us write their API documentation. MS documentation in many of their 'open source' projects has been weak. Nothing worse then hitting F1, seeing the basic generated help text with no solid examples, references, or why's the item even exists.

Laptop Monitors---going backwardsBasically there has been collusion to reduce costs by the manufacturers. It happens a lot in this industry. And unfortunately the lemmings don't know what they are buying. Maybe this will be the final reason to buy a Mac.
-
Laptop Monitors---going backwardsWe need some real laptop reviews to put these manufacturers in place on this. People do work with their laptop. People cruise web with their laptops. People play games with their laptops (well they try). I don't see many folks on the train watching movies with their laptops.
-
Laptop Monitors---going backwardsditto on the xps m1530...debating on new battery and ssd vs new.
-
Laptop Monitors---going backwardsWhat happened to the monitors with nice verical pixel counts? Just got done looking for a new laptop, and the vertical pixel counts are horrid. 15.6" monitors on high end machines at 1080 and decently priced at 768. 17.3" monitors at 900 with high end at 1080. I've got a 3 year old laptop with more vertical pixel counts and higher horizontal counts, 1920x1200. Anybody know how to upgrade a 3 year old laptop to the i series processors? Or anybody know how to tell Laptop manufacturers a good laptop has a good monitor and these new ones don't have it. While I'm ranting, these glossy monitors are pitiful, there was a reason for anti-glare and it hasn't gone away.

Somebody teach MS EnglishIts a rant. Some took the approach of saying that what MS used falls under the correct grammatical category. It does. And a few understood the difference between using correct grammer at the second grade level vs grammer/phrasing understandable by the user. I only wished MS didn't use phrases like 'is being'. I didn't see many folks offering other options, ie the message during installation could have said, "Installing Program X" and the IM could have said, 'Hold on for Joe's new message' In any case, its always good to hear others thoughts.
