  • MSDN busted [modified]
    V valex123

Jim Are you using IE6? The same thing happened to me several days ago. I can get in if I use IE7 or Firefox but not IE6. I think Microsoft is intentionally blocking MSDN for developers using IE6. It's their way of forcing developers to use IE7. I get the same error at technet.microsoft.com. Vincent

  • MSDN Error when using I.E. 6
    V valex123

I think it's the height of arrogance for Microsoft to intentionally give you a crappy error message just because you're using IE6 to access MSDN or TechNet. If they want you to upgrade to use these sites, why don't they just say so? They don't do that with Firefox. Vincent

  • MSDN Error when using I.E. 6
    V valex123

MSDN http://msdn.microsoft.com[^] gives me this error http://209.162.191.45/msdnerror.gif[^] when I use I.E. 6 but not I.E. 7 and not Firefox. Strange. What's even worse is that Microsoft doesn't have its web.config setup properly to display a nice error message!!! They need to improve their quality control. Vincent

  • Company Says .NET Violates Its Patent
    V valex123

Here is the link to the article http://adtmag.com/article.aspx?id=20548[^] Here is the abstract from the patent website. A system and method for generating computer applications in an arbitrary object framework. The method separates content, form, and function of the computer application so that each may be accessed or modified separately. The method includes creating arbitrary objects, managing the arbitrary objects throughout their life cycle in an object library, and deploying the arbitrary objects in a design framework for use in complex computer applications. It seems to me that anything anyone does on the internet, in IT, or as a developer, is covered by a patent somewhere. The only thing that keeps them from coming after you is that you don't have any money. Anyway, since CP is mostly about Microsoft development and .NET, I thought you ought to know. Enjoy Vincent

WOW stands for Windows on Windows, i.e. 32bit apps running under 64bit windows. The same thing happened when 32bit windows came out. 16bit apps were/are supported using a WOW environment for 16bit apps and provides a thunking layer. Vincent

  • Server Error at Microsoft.com
    V valex123

I've always considered Microsoft to be an expert at how best to use the .net framework. Not that I always follow their recommendation but I at least try to pay attention to what they recommend and consider it. I think I'll pass on this. Enjoy. • Windows Gives No Tongue
    V valex123

This is my first post in the lounge so please be gentle. I was reading my San Francisco Chronicle newspaper this morning and read this article by Mark Morford entitled "You always fall for Windows come-on". It was very funny so I looked it up on the sfgate.com website and it was there, so I decided to share it with you. The title was different but the text of the article is the same. Enjoy, Vince Windows Gives No Tongue Reminder: Microsoft's bloated OS is truly terrible in the sack. But a Mac will make you moan http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/gate/archive/2006/07/14/notes071406.DTL[^]
