Yeah, that was some system. I don't miss the languages as much as the system itself. You read the directions and wrote the program, and it worked.

Does anyone miss programming in old languages? -
Does anyone miss programming in old languages?I had a job once programming in Fortran 77 on a VAX 11/780. That was a nice machine!

Does anyone miss programming in old languages?I learned programming in college by writing programs in Algol-60 on a Univac 1108. My, how time flies!

MasteryRe: Tao. Check out The Tao of Programming[^] I learned a lot from it. :-D

MasteryIt's all a matter of how you define "folding". Of the 3 dimensions, I simply try to minimize 2, subject to the constraint of the height of the drawer where I keep clean sheets. ;)

So how do I explain that?Wouldn't the latest sunrise of the year be the right time to start the new year? According to my calendar, the latest sunrise occurs on January 6, so Happy New Year! :-D

Welcome to the Dark Side..."It's not what we don't know that gets us into trouble. It's what we know that ain't so." It's a quote from somewhere (I don't remember where I read it.). I'm thinking of phlogiston, or the aether.

Welcome to the Dark Side...I know you believe you understand what you think he wrote, but what you read is not what he meant. ;)

Woo hoo! Microsoft do listen to us!They already do it to me with Chrome. When I type www.microsoft.com, Chrome displays the message:
This site can’t be reached
www.microsoft.com unexpectedly closed the connection.
Typing www.microsoft.com in Edge gets me there, no problem.

Programming Question of the Week?Chrome is piggy even on newer equipment. I have an i5 (4 cores) and 8 GB RAM, and Chrome slows down my system.

Advice from Bjarne StroustrupI actually worked in Modula-2 for 10 years. Very clean language, easy to work with. Sad to say, we changed languages when we moved from DOS to Windows in 1996.
