cheap shot ;P Actually, this sort of thing did seem somewhat common under Win9x (at least in my experience), as resource leaks and memory corruption would often leave explorer unable to load correct resources. 4x versions of IE and Netscape seemed to be the worst culprits IMHO._**

There is a registry key called "Data" loacated at. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\Open Find\Microsoft Word\Settings\Insert Picture\View It is binary key so i dont have a clue how to change it. But that looks like it could be the answer. .NET or not .NET? MFC is the question......

VS6 Enterprise includes Rational Visual Modeler, I believe. VS .NET Enterprise Architect includes Visio. If you can't afford the Enterprise version then you can try one of the free (open source) tools. Kevin
