Colin Davies wrote: there are other ways to sabatage a Hydro Dam. Certainly there are. But I ain't tellin'. Colin Davies wrote: if the terrorists were to attack "No place important USA" now it would have a greater effect of spreading terror than by atacking landmarks. Probably not. Terror is a very specific thing; publicity and notoriety are critical. An attack on an undefended piece of worthless sand with few people living on it has very little terror appeal. Attacking a well-defended, major landmark has much greater impact politically. For a real enemy, in a sincere effort to take over there are far better places to target than the obvious ones. I know of at least one important resource which, because of distribution limitations, is so vulnerable that a single hand grenade could remove fully 1/2 of it from circulation. The location is obscure, there's no landmark around, and you'd never find it on a map. It was the subject of an important book published about 15 years ago, and the book got so little attention that I have no reason to believe anything has changed because of it. No doubt there are similar chokepoints all over the US, because we have never had any reason to feel vulnerable. That mindset has affected all our planning; hopefully that's changing in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. We are no longer an unassailable island, and it's time we stopped behaving like one. What did Powell do in Vietnam? What was his role in the Iran-contra scandal? How did he rise so smoothly as a black man in a white-dominated Republican national security establishment? Were Powell's victories in Panama and Iraq excessively violent and insufficiently concerned with civilian dead? Almost believable until he slipped in the race issue. ...here's my peeve. Digital imaging systems have the ability to take a fuzzy satellite picture of a round blob next to a square blob and zoom in on it with increasing levels of detail until you can not only recognize the bad guy, but can see his expression and read the tag on the back of his jacket. then, they can search the image "database" (while showing all items in the search in rapid succession) - and it takes less than 5 seconds to find the match. -c WWT2D? I know exactly how you feel. We have three golden retrievers as well as an australian shepard mix, and they're pretty much our kids. Here's a pic of one of our goldens - Molly. She was sitting in the back yard enjoying the late spring sun: Molly[^] If/when you think you're up for it, look into adopting a golden that's been abandoned. There should be a Golden retriever Rescue organization somewhere within a reasonable distance of your location. That's what we're going to do instead of getting another puppy. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends
