Along a similar vein, a story about a guy who sat the Oxbridge exams a few years ago (For the non-brits, Oxbridge is an amalgamation of Oxford and Cambridge - the 'best' universities in the country - yeah RIGHT says a Birmingham alumnus!). He sat himself down to take a 3 1/2 hour exam, with a single question - "What is bravery". Everyone in the room sat and cogitated, while our character wrote a single line and then left the room. What did he write I hear you ask - the most profound answer given, and the only response that garnered an automatic offer of a place..... He wrote "This is it"

I've never had the naked dream? My dreams tend to involve me jumping into large canyons and just floating down safely. Most of my other dreams tend to involve fighting or running from bad things (monsters, terrorists etc). Interestingly enough, in most of my fighting dreams I am carrying a gun (varying from laser gun to standard pistol) - yet for some reason I never have any ammo or the gun won't fire. God knows what Freud would make of it ;-) Michael Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. All the world's waiting for you, and the power you possess. Yeah, I always refuse to drive if I've had anything to drink at all. People say "come on, legally you can drink a few pints and still be under the limit" with some kind of idea that being drunk is some kind of binary state that flips from fully sober to drunk -- Help me! Mike Gaskey wrote: Was it funny? I thought so. It made serious fun of French, German and Chinese UN delegates. They were much more interested in UN perks (free meals and limos) than anything else. They also seemed to like diplomatic immunity. Michael P Butler wrote: As Germany was the surprise winner. I think FIFA handled it by "influencing" the votes. SA looked set to get it, but Germany won. It was big news here, because the deciding vote was handled by the Oceania delegate, Charlie Dempsey from NZ. Apparently he thought that the process was corrupted in some form and decided not to vote at all. Which basically meant Germany took it. Now what is wonderful is that the Oceania group can now actually get a position in the World Cup, where before it was a near impossible mission. A reward maybe? Can you email me the text for this post? It's become something about stem cell research now, and I take it that wasn't the subject. Oops. Never mind! Just saw where you posted the full text! I used to be just like that before too. But I've come to the conclusion that code in development is not static. Sooner or later I get this idea of doing it better for whatever reason. Then I have to rewrite all that code I tried to make so pretty to begin with! I do however try to make the concepts as generic as possible though. That way I can perhaps just tweak it or replace parts of the implementation without breaking the overall design and interfaces. I do all the beautifications just before I tag the code in CVS and after I'm happy with the design/implementation details. I figure that's the least wear and tear on fingers and mind. :) -- "And God said, Let us make man in our image"
