People have no problem spending a few bucks on personal hardware. It's just a matter of saving up for a few months - for some not even that. However, a company don't have that luxury. If they have a perfectly working system, then why on earth should they upgrade to something they don't need? The costs aren't just the price for the hardware, but for the guy who installs it, the possibly new software, the training of personell for the new system, etc. As for doing graphics and stuff on DOS, I think that's a trait of masters. Consider writing a simple 3d-demo. In Windows et al you just fire up DirectX or OpenGL, use the already debugged and ready to use toolkit and you're done. In DOS you'd probably have to write all that yourself. You really have to work it bit by bit on DOS, which is something that requires far more attention of the programmer. I'm not saying we should all go back to DOS, but if it works for someone, let that someone use it. You don't have to. :) -- "And God said, Let us make man in our image"

What is the purpose of having spearation of church and state if the state merely assumes the role of a church in the promulgation of its own moral agenda while overtly supressing competing codes of moral ethics? Are you saying that John Ashcroft's moral agenda is the correct one? Do you think the statue of Justice needs a sheet covering her breasts? You are comfortable with it because it is a theocracy of values that you subscribe to. That is an overgeneralization based on your assumption of my beliefs. I'm a liberal regarding intellectual pursuits, a libertarian regarding limited government, and a conservative regarding fiscal policy. Conservative, that is, in the older sense, where you don't run massive budget deficits. Unlike Bush & Co., I want balanced budgets, low spending, and low taxes.

I heard about this on the radio this morning. It amazed me that they did not try to match this guys story up with anything else first. What the hell are these people doing?? I had a feeling the terror alert was part of a Bush scam to get people to realize we are in danger (although not from Iraq). This just helps confirm that a little more. Sounds like, you either not doing it right, or you have corupted you install. For MFC you do have access to all the source code. Thats why you can use it under Borland C++ builder as an alternative to OWL and even on the Mac(though I've not tried it). I will say wxWindows has come a long way of late, but just have not got the will yet to get ineto it. Thanks for the complement. However, I never said the US was innocent. Just that, all things considered, our record is clearly better than that of Europe's, taken as a whole. You Europeans need to get over the notion that you possess any kind of political/diplomatic historic record to which the world owes some kind of respect. The US has managed world affairs far better than any European government ever did. Without us, you guys would probably still be hacking away at each other like so many mindless dark age barbarians.
