    If you are still looking, I'd get something at least with Core 2 on board. Have good amount of ram, too. Just a quick thought. "Any sort of work in VB6 is bound to provide several WTF moments." - Christian Graus

    Off the top of my head, only thing I can think of is watching out for portability issues... It wouldn't hurt to turn on warning flags in the compiler to see how the migration will go. "Any sort of work in VB6 is bound to provide several WTF moments." - Christian Graus

    Hi, If you have trouble with serial port software in connection with modem, then I strongly suggest you split the problem in two parts: - test you cable and modem using an existing app, such as HyperTerminal; this will also help you in learning modem commands (use on info from Google) - develop your serial port code without a modem, use a second PC (maybe again with HyperTerminal; and with a null modem, or null modem cable) or something else Only once you got both parts sufficiently solved, try to combine your app with the modem. BTW: I advise you to log all serial data (both in and out) in a file using both hex and ASCII while debugging (and to leave the code in, but switch it off, once you think it works adequately). :) Luc Pattyn try { [Search CP Articles] [Search CP Forums] [Forum Guidelines] [My Articles] } catch { [Google] }

It's generic, but only to a point. Eventually, you have to get into the specifics of the device. Just buy a new system. The way you're asking the question implies you don't have the knowledge to fix it. My idea is that you ask in the appropriate programming forum. It's not a complete redesign. The Core series is derived from the Pentium-M which is an enhanced P3 design. -- You have to explain to them [VB coders] what you mean by "typed". their first response is likely to be something like, "Of course my code is typed. There were monitors on that page that had VGA inputs, but none of them are 5-inch. ...more like line 1098... :laugh: Did anyone noticed that a "used formula" is missing in the text? Thus... how can we understand some copy / pasted material... and why would anyone do someone else's job for which is probably paid? Helping lazy students do their homework is not as nearly as stupid as helping ____ (fill the blank with whatever you find appropriate) to earn good money and even promote, based on work they didn't even read before submitting. :mad: PS: Btw, I would consider such material as confidential as expect to be sued instantly for publishing it.
