You don't go to college to gain experience or expertise on anything. You simply get courses on a more or less broad selection of things and see that you pass the tests. Many people there have never worked on real projects, never had to apply the theoretical things they learned to real problems and have not even begun to build connections between the islands of knowledge they may or may not have.

And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke:
"Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"

And I smiled and was happy
    And it came worse.

Overheard this conversation : Interviewer : So you go to college? Interviewee : Semester 7 Interviewer : Your resume says you know Java, what kind of application have you make? Interviewee : Javascript *I go to the bathroom*

Excuse me for my improper grammar and typos. It's because English is my primary language, not my first language. My first languages are C# and Java. VB, ASP, JS, PHP and SQL are my second language. Indonesian came as my third language. My fourth language? I'm still creating it, I'll let you know when it's done! :-D

Writing Javascript on your own is pretty impressive. Reminds me of the Liverpool University web site, advertising a course that includes programming the internet.

I would feel sorry for young people who don't behave totally irresponsibly at that age. They still have enough time to worry about all kinds of things later and should enjoy a little freedom after sucessfully having escaped from mom and dad.

I studied after leaving the military. I was a bit older than most of the students, already a bit wiser and in good training what the drinking was concerned :)

This is going on my arrogant assumptions. You may have a superb reason why I'm completely wrong. -- Iain Clarke
