You aren't by chance using Resharper are you? I had a similar experience once I turned off Resharper all was fine. I think the latest version of Resharper has eliminated the issues. Brad

I have had subscriptions to both Telerik and DevExpress. I canceled my Devexpress subscription when they touted features that were then pulled from the release. I also had issues with the Silverlight controls and Prisim which at the time was a deal breaker. I switched to the Telerik Utlimate Collection and they have great support, I suggested a feature to JustTrace to allow tracing of Silverlight OOB apps and it was implemented as an internal build in less than a week. The other thing I like is the access to internal builds, especially nice when you identify a bug and they get it resolved before the next official release. Since I have access to the full Telerik suite I have used all but the Winforms controls and for Silverlight and WPF the controls provide a consistent programming interface which allows you to focus on implementation rather than documentation. To me Telerik is heads and shoulders above DevExpress in value and support.

Days since last pay raise??

Or ex-girl friends.

Works just fine. Once you upgrade a project to VS 2010 the prj and sln files are updated as well so you won't be able to reopen in VS2008.

April 2011 for Manistream support and 2016 for extended support, so unless he has no concept of time, not sure that argument would hold water :) Brad

Ok,I don't mind a three day wait but I don't think my boss will go for it, he seems to be expecting me to do something called "work" with the service pack :)
Brad
Looking at the list, I'd guess some of these are a result of installs of the service pack on machines that were running the beta and they uninstalled the beta and applied the release. I did a complete uninstall of VS 2008, wipped out any remaing directories and reinstalled clean before applying the service pack. So far I haven't had any problems, granted I've only had it installed for 2 days. Just my 2 cents

Yep. happened to me just today. Uninstalled SP3, downloaded the latest SP2 security updates and all is well. To be honest, the SP3 uninstall was really painless (for a change) :-D . Brad

I picked it up when it was called Prompt SQL, it's a useful tool, especially when you're deal with undocumented db schema's. That said, I paid $19.00 for the original "as long as you live" license, then it was bought by red-gate, supposedly the license info was transferred and now they want to charge again. I won't buy it or any of their other products.

No, I installed SP1 and the current raft of hotfixes to no avail. There is currently no sliptreamed SQL 2005 intall w/ SP1. But I honestly do not think it would help. Brad
Wait until you try to install SQL 2005 on it. First hope you don't need reporting services, SQL 2005 doesn't recognize IIS 7. Database can't be attached, this was particularly irritating because the message saying insufficient disk space on a 250 GB HD. And the kicker was all the known issue dialogs running SQL tools such as the surface area configuration tool. You’d think they’d at least make sure that their software would run reasonably well on a new OS. Brad
I like the ribbon bars myself, makes navigation better and requires alot less searching to accomplish tasks. Not sure why it wasn't carried through the whole suite, outlook and Info Path still use the older command bars. I also like the instant preview for formatting and styles. You can see what the document will look like before changing it, saves a great deal of "Undo" time. The RSS feature seems half done, in my case it continually updated the same articles over and over. I couldn't find a way to set the update period. You can blog directly from word but .Text isn't supported yet, so I'll take a wait and see on this feature. Overall though, they seem to have put a great deal of work into and interoperability with older document formats works well. Brad
