Because, there are ways to do this that are not difficult and still allow Amex users to charge. It's more likely that they don't want to pay the higher processing fee that Amex charges and don't want to admit that they are inconveniencing their customers for that reason.

No-one has been able to find a marriage license - and people have looked. Apparently there is a birth certificate, but Obama won't release it.
