Yeah, it needed a facelift. I'm interested to see if their spam identification (destruction) gets any better with the ability to "Report Junk E-Mail" from the new toolbar. I'll be naive and pretend that there is some fantastic AI behind it and, once trained, will never allow me to see spam again. I can dream, right?:)

  • Reading from a USB port with Win32 API
    C Chris Barrell

I would start by looking at the work Camilo Toro has done. He has wrapped the needed portions of Win32 in a C# class. You'll be able to do what you want without writing much code at all. His work, called USBSharp, can be found on Jan Axelson's HID Page[^]. (Jan is the author of USB Complete, a great book to wet your taste buds.) For more details, look at the rest of Jan's site, the MS DDK, and MSDN of course. Hope this helps, Chris

  • PPC Phone w/Wi-Fi??

Giles wrote: Personally the Pocket PC phones are way to big For just a cell phone, I agree. But for web browsing, Pocket Word, Remote Desktop, and the like, I need screen size that no "cell phone" can provide. I guess I look at the whole thing a little differently. Right now I tote around my LG VX10 and my e740, so rather than seeing a device like the rumored HP iPaq 6000 as a large cell phone, I see it as a means to carry 1 device rather than 2.

I've had my Toshiba e740 for a while now. I've always said that I'll upgrade when a PocketPC Phone Edition PDA hits the streets with integrated Wi-Fi. One of my buddies swears he's seen one, but my Googling hasn't turned up much. Anyone seen any of these? Chris

I picked up a USB2 256MB FujiFilm for $59 after rebates a few months ago. It does everything I expect it to do without issue. I see that price again every few weeks. Chris

Not sure what your definition of "too bloated" is, but you can go to http://classic.winamp.com[^] to get Winamp 2.x. They offer a Lite version that I think would be difficult to call bloated. Chris

WeiyeChen wrote: Yes, but what is a surge protector? An inline fused device that will blow a $0.20 fuse or a circuit breaker rather than cooking your video RAM. For phone/dsl, look for a power strip with 2 phone jacks on it. You'll connect the power strip to your phone jack in the wall and to your computer. (The phone line goes through the power strip). WeiyeChen wrote: Does it cost alot? This is like, "Does a car cost alot?". I have a full 1000VA UPS that will do this for about $100, but a base surge protector should be under $10. Search for "surge protector" at buy.com. Belkin, APC, and Monster are my personal favorite manufacturers. Hope this helps.
