The obsession with hating MicrosoftBack when I used to lecture in a technology-based department (this is no reflection on the department, which was excellent), I was considered strange by some of my colleagues for actually preferring to use Windows systems (I love Visual Studio), and yet they wondered why their (non-computer science) students found it difficult doing their work on unix. Their students used to tell me that they were used to Windows, and Windows software existed to do all they were trying to do on unix, and they didn't know how to set up their PCs at home to dual boot linux just for a couple of courses. I personally think that making them use unix made them better computer users, but that wasn't the reason the lecturers made them do it - they just didn't like Microsoft, which to me seems rather silly, and I write cross-platform (Win/Linux/Mac/kitchen sink) software all the time.

"God-squad" takeover?Colin Angus Mackay wrote: Surely the would see you as "being on the same side", or it some sort of mini-Northern Ireland down there. Born-again Christians have always looked at Catholics as tools of Satan. That's why they're not Catholics. We just find them amusing.

"God-squad" takeover? We have a few of those in Bournemouth. They have microphones and amps. They stop people in the street. Fortunately I'm a Catholic, and they hate those more than atheists. Do they honestly think they're going to convert people that way?
