  • Go Daddy just shutdown my domain
    K KevinMac

They won't use my address, name or anything else it has to be a pass code or the credit card number used to set it up 4 years ago. But you are right I would have been better off using discountasp or someone that I have a working relationship with.

  • Go Daddy just shutdown my domain
    K KevinMac

I listened to a web designer and let them set up my domin using Go Daddy years ago. They are long since gone and now my domain is expired and Go Daddy won't renew unless I tell them my pass code or the credit card number used to purchase the account. Never Never Never use Go Daddy they suck.

I have done a few in my life some were successfully some not it really depends on the financial institution you are trying to use. I have found IT businesses a bit difficult to get funded because of the lack of inventory as an asset. If you have existing businesses then you can model your pro formas from their income statements otherwise it is all about finding supporting data for your predictions.

  • What would you do, if you were in my shoes?
    K KevinMac

First off I would change my socks(humor). I applaud your ethics and I understand that feeding you family has to happen. Leckey and Douglas have offered some good alternatives but in the long run I doubt that you will be able to remain where you are. The problem will show up as your conscience having to know that they either made you do something wrong or tried to. The other thing to consider is that if they will steal software they will also take advantage of you. Start looking right now and be sure to protect yourself by following the advise already presented especially about getting everything printed out. Don't be to hard on yourself if you end up having to do the unethical work it was not your decision. I would suggest that a possible argument to buying the software is that there are ways to negotiate the purchase if the company cannot sell their software locally. I have been in the position you are in and it is stressful so best of luck. Kevin

I am sure he is nice when he is in public but you don't get to where he is without being shrewd. My guess is that if you are working for him and miss expectations you may well find him to be a bit mean. I do think that he comes off as a good business man and I think that it is interesting points that he is bringing out about the cost of the IPhone. Personally I just don't see spending that much money on that kind of phone with the poor quality of service I get with ATT already. But as much as I think I know it will be the next big thing and make gerbillions of money.

  • CodeProject is probably the best example of an internet "democracy"
    K KevinMac

Don't know if what you say is absolutely true since there are so many sites I do not know about that may be real nice but I am compelled to agree with you. I just don't go anywhere else because I like the people and conversations here. I don't spend as much time answering questions in the forums as I should but when I do it is quite satisfying. Because of the feeling of satisfaction and quality of discussions that I find here I am somewhat protective of Code Project and try not to be controversial or rude. It is strange that people I have never physically met have become meaningful to me.

    K KevinMac

I drank way to much beer this weekend to actually remember much about my emails but I did log into the site manager today. Here is what I found. " Posted Today 11:44 AM (GMT -7) Quote This PostAlert An Admin About This Post. Our network is under a massive DOS attack which used up the capacity of the physical cable (Gigabit) to our router. We are working with our upstream provider to identify the IP addresses who initiated the DOS and attempt to terminate the incoming traffic from their network. We will post update here as soon as we made any significant progress Bruce DiscountASP.NET" Looks like they have been busy.

Mexico is relaxing the visa requirements and travel restrictions for people from India. I think this has been an ongoing process that has been hastened in the last 6 months. I would be very impressed if India would open their colleges to students from Mexico now that would be impressive to me. As I am getting older I will be looking for the high end Doctors in resort towns in Mexico you know to fix my liver when I retire. :-D

I used a web site that had instructions bootdisk.com best of luck. If you were a little more local to me I would just let you have one of my old cd's I hope I am done with Windows 98.

  • Mac vs. PC ads
    K KevinMac

On David Letterman they have a spoof of the Mac vs PC ads where the PC(B Gates) is sarcastic and bully's the Mac character. I somehow find these spoofs so funny to watch. I find the ad's kind of unfair given the number of markets and products that the MS products cover and doubt that Mac would be any different if they were in the same situation. I will concede that the Mac marketing department is quite brilliant though.

The Lounge csharp html com tools question

  • Too many Filewatches!
    K KevinMac

Most of my experience with FileWatchers is in the services realm I just don't use them that much in windows applications so there may be differences. To be precise I believe the Filewatchers become unstable because of the code they are running in. The threading in the Filewatcher can cause other contention issues in the application particularly when you are running timers also. I periodically recycle the services and this seems to solve the issue but that is not good design. I am more prone to running them inside of their own class now and tearing that down and re instantiating it periodically disposing of all resources. I also try to use as few filewatchers as possible and change where they are pointing in code so I have fewer moving parts to keep track of. So far it has been pretty stable but this is in windows services not windows applications which should not be an issue but they are much less complicated. What I have done is 180 degrees from what you are doing so there are clear differences. I use logging quite a bit to track down issues with timers and filewatchers as well as the performance monitoring tools which has been helpful.
