Ultimate PC upgrade -
Ultimate PC upgradeAd revenue of course! In all honesty, the site is a great idea to generate some quick revenue. Assume the guy has an existing hosting service, and paid $10 to get the domain name. All he has to do is let it sit and he'll rake in the nickels and dimes. Is he going to get rich? No. Is he going to pay for his coffee? Probably. but really, that particular site may actually make decent money. Doing a quick adwords lookup shows that the keywords he would be interested in are selling for good money. I would bet he's seeing $2+ per click.

Acceptable temperatureI lived in Phoenix for a couple years, and yes it's true, it is a dry heat (compared to Iowa). For me it seemed like anything under 105F was tolerable. for some reason the 106F just put it over the edge.

Terrible dilemaI like to consider myself a good dad and all, but really, how many soccer games is your daughter going to have? I bet i can re-cap it for you right now: One team is going to score One team is going to score One team is going to score The other team scores One team is going to score One team is going to score The other team scores One team is going to score Now you know your daughter's team better than I, so you'll have to decide what team she's on. But really, at age 7, you're just getting started with child sports. As your kid(s) get older, you'll notice that fewer parents show up, then you'll notice kids getting dropped off, then you'll notice kids riding their bikes to the game. Don't get me wrong. Spend as much time as you can with your kids. Encourage them and support them in what they do. But if the Vikings are on TV, you can guess what I'll be doing.

ContactsI wore glasses for most my life, but have wore contacts for the last 6 years. Being new to contacts, the best thing i can tell you is to blink. and blink a lot. over time it will become second nature and you won't have to think about it. As others have said, take them out every night (i sometimes leave them in over the weekend, especially if i'm drinking) and put them in solution. When you do this, always wash your hands. Doing this will keep your eyes infection free, and will help to make them last longer. I think i'm setting a new record with the pair i have right now. Nearly a year with no tears or build ups.

Solution to cluttered desktopI can't believe I'm the first to say this, but the best solution for a cluttered desktop is to highlight all and press delete, then enter. desktop icons are inefficient and should never be used. Try an app like SlickRun(XP/Vista) or Gnome Do(Ubuntu). You'll never waste your time again "organizing" your desktop, or even searching through it. While you're at it, you could even set your desktop background with some uber sweet image. You'll only see it during boot up, screen lock, and shut down though. just my 2 cents... well, maybe 5 cents in this post

Which SVN client do you like best? Why is visual studio integration required? Although not their latest versions, I have used both ankh and VisualSVN, and could not match the consistency, reliability or feature set that TortoiseSVN offers. Unfortunately I am now in Ubuntu land, and have to go back to the stone ages and use a command line... honestly though, command line isn't bad either.

Day dreaming...I'd go with the 3 side by side with the 4th monitor above the middle monitor. That way you can spread apps like VS over 2 or 3 of the bottom monitors (starting with the left most one), and use the top one for things like email.

Why I am cool todayright on man. I just made it through my second week of not smoking. i smoked about the same amount of time as you. So far it hasn't been to bad, but i have to say that going out for some drinks is the hardest time to not smoke.

I saw that episode. It was great. However, it still doesn't top the exploding cement truck episode.
completely agree. that cement truck episode was awesome. The sound it made was like it was ripping space and time into shreds.

Considering buying laptopmy suggestion is to go to outlet.dell.com and select a laptop from there. you can get a dual core 3ghz laptop with 4gb ram, 180gb hd @ 7200 rpm, with a high res 15.4 screen for less than $1500. if you need less hardware, you could pick one up for just over a grand. i picked up two latitude d830 with XP Pro and the specs above from there and have had no issues. I also know many people who only buy from the dell outlet store and have had no issues. generally, you'll save $300-$500 on there.

VB6 Subversion clientwhat you're describing is exactly what i went through 2 years ago. We were using VSS at work, hated it, and wanted something new. I was using SVN at home, but had never used it outside of my single developer scenario. When we first moved over to SVN the team wanted to keep their VS integrated src control stuff. So we went with Ankh. It worked, but caused some headaches. Fortunately the team saw value in SVN, so there was no going back to VSS. But that lead us to the conversation of, what else is out there for a SVN client. Tortise was suggested, a couple tried it out, then the whole team moved over. Sorry for drifting slightly off topic here... I don't know of any SVN clients that integrate with the VB6 IDE. Maybe it's time to convert those apps to .net ;P

good source code version control programs...in that case i would suggest using either unfuddle.com or assembla.com. Both are SVN based so you will need Tortise to interact with them, and both have free plans that you can use to try them out. If you're looking to understand the admin side of src control, you can download and install a local SVN setup. However, in this day in age, with free providers out there, there's really no reason to do this. Let someone else do that work for you. btw, SVN stands for Subversion.

VB6 Subversion clientSince Tortise is a windows explorer add on, i don't see why that wouldn't meet your VB6 requirement. i realize you're just getting started with SVN, but how is Ankh treating you? I used it many moons ago and found it to be quite problematic in terms of adding/removing files and a handful of other issues.

good source code version control programs...also, unfuddle and assembla offer SVN hosting at no charge, unless you need more resources than the free plans offer. However, these are both not open to the public.

good source code version control programs...are you looking for an publicly viewable src control repository? i think most people assumed you were looking for a non public repos. if you truly do want a public repos, sourceforge is great, and i would also suggest code.google.com.

.NET free CMS roundupI agree with both of these comments. building the core is very painful, and with the whole marketplace thing they have going on, it does seem to have taken a turn for the worse. Regarding the building, are you planning on making changes to the CMS itself, or add functionality to it in the form of a module? My personal experience has been to create new modules outside of the dnn sln just so i don't have to sit through the build of the core. take my comments in stride though. I spent 6 months building a product based on DNN and am now starting over (bit of a direction change too) going the route of rails and mySQL.
