Question 1.) Why do you program, and what attracted you to programming in the first place? Question 2.) Do you see any problems or future problems that could arise within the programmer subculture?

    1. Wanted to create games and it led to elsewhere. It also satisfies my creative urges along with my need to make. 2. AI taking over the task of programming. Why is it that in Star Trek they have robots and nanobots making life easier so that no one has to work if they don't want to and yet we don't actually see that happening in the early stages?

I'm getting used to him but I'd still prefer seeing any of the three preceding actors in the role. I wasn't crazy about Capaldi in his first season because they seemed to play on his character's confusion. Now that the Doctor's become more sure of himself it feels less like he's stumbling around.

And finally, in the deepest irony of all, our very system of education is designed to dumb-down the population. One only need look at who was in charge of creating public education to see the motivations behind ensuring that the worker was smart enough to do his job but not so smart as to threaten the economic/socio/political hierarchy

And wouldn't it be nice if the upper strata of the economic/socio/political hierarchy were actually smart enough to use the education that they can afford?

  • What have you made with your own two hands?
    L Lilith C

There are various versions of such a thing. Many of them are designed to activate only when the AC is running, either by a relay attached to the 24 volt flow to the AC control mechanism or a device that trips a switch when the flow of air out the top of the AC blows up a paddle. Mine is a simple PVC structure with strategically placed misting nozzles and a constant water supply. Yes, I know a waste. Which is why I discontinued using it until I automate the water flow. Efficient? Dunno. I haven't worked on any figures for it since Texas summers are so variable.

The problem I find with organizations that make changes to your TOC are the ones in which you have a substantial monetary and software investment. Like Apple with their 87 page contract. If I were to read the thing all the way through and found something I didn't like, am I expected to drop everything I have on my iPad/iPhone and start shelling out more money for apps on an Android just to avoid that one part I don't like?

Log the time spent on logging the time and determine a percentage of total time spent. Of course, you have to log the time of logging the time and it becomes recursive.

  • The Developer Is Always Wrong
    L Lilith C

This reminds me of years ago when we had hired an outside programmer to write a system that was to be shared by several agencies throughout our area. The problem was that the data was only available for viewing and not for downloading for local handling. This was when we only had modems for outside communication. I had to ask the "developer" to make a copy of the file available for downloading every time we needed the data. The problem was that he had to generate the file on demand and never gave us the information in the same order or format. We eventually fired him.

Didn't Bill Gates (remember him) introduce a Microsoft tablet back around '02? Everyone yawned. Steve Jobs brings out a table (renamed to "pad") and everyone just about pee'd in their pants. Now we're back to Microsoft's tablet and suddenly they're stealing the idea from Apple. Maybe the iPad/Phone had a better shot at it because it was wrapped around a cell phone concept, which many people had already accepted. Kind of the carrot in front of the mule.
