Unit testing toolYes, it is. Though I have been using 1.6 and 1.8. Looks like they have added a few new features. Cheers The universe is driven by the complex interaction between three ingredients: matter, energy, and enlightened self-interest.

Unit testing toolI've used CPPUnit on sourceforge.net before. It's a pretty nifty bit of software. I found it to allow me to structure my test suite the way I like it. It is fairly well documented, and provides a test runner gui that tells you where the error occurred in the test suite. For your consideration...Stan Shannon wrote: Isn't the court acting now as the "Religious police", enforcing their own religion on the people of Texas? Or could it be seen as the court preventing the people of Texas forcing their 'religion' on all groups within that state. I might be wrong here; I don't fully understand how these things work; I didn't think the court just picked an issue and made a judgement. Doesn't someone have to bring a case to it to judge? If someone who was being penalised by the Texan state for being homosexual brought that issue to the USSC, then it would be the courts duty to make a judgement regarding that case. If the Texas law was unconstitional, then the court would have no other option than to override it. If courts were not able to override unconstitional laws, but instead had to rely on politicians... well there's a big safety net gone. You may as well not have a USSC. Government actions to limit spamChris Maunder wrote: That's an interesting point. What about product placements in movies, and monologues by radio DJ's where they just start talking about a product and how cool it is as if it were truly their personal opinion. Isn't that just as sneaky? Product placement in movies. Well, to an extent that is almost expected these days. And I don't know if it really has that much of an effect. It must have some, or the ad companies wouldn't do it. DJ opinions being bought. Not much different to getting a movie or tv star hawking a product. More unethical though. The thing with both of these is that the consumer is not actively trying to block them, and the ad companies aren't trying to prevent the listner/viewer from blocking. For instance, I can mute or change channels with my remote when an annoying ad comes on tv. If there was some signal that an advertiser used to stop my remote from 'blocking' their ad, that is equivalent to spammers trying to get around spam blocking software. Government actions to limit spamThe thing that bothers me most about spam isn't the fact that it is unsolicited. Nearly all advertising is unsolicited. I would much rather be watching that movie on TV without being interrupted every 10 minutes by an ad. Spam is just another advertisement. What bothers me about spam, the two things that annoy me in fact, is that it is secretive, and that it is forcefully intrusive. When you watch TV, the ads are relatively easy to trace, and in fact the advertising companies can get in trouble if they breach the code of practice rules. Most spammers deliberately try to hide themselves by using unusual names, or by spoofing someone else email address. This in fact happened to me on an old email account I had. I started receiving bounce backs from email addresses I had never mailed. When I looked at the contents it appeared that someone had been using my address to send spam. The other thing that annoys me, and annoys me most, is the way that spammers try and get around legitimate spam blockers. If I have turned on my junk mail rules, or have installed a spam blocker, it means that I DO NOT WANT SPAM! Why then do the spammers try and get around these blocks. I used to receive spam from one source that came in from the same domain with different users. Why not always use the same email address? why change it if not to avoid simple spam blockers? The only way to get around it is to block entire domains. One of the things that most shows the bloody minded atitude of the spammer is a recent attempt by a bunch of the buggers to sue companies that produce spam blockers. (I'm sorry, I don't have a link) These are all opt in services used by people who do not want spam. To try and put them out of business truely shows how spammers view the rights of the people that they want to peddle to. Car QuestionThanks for the Info. I'll keep the Taurus on the list. Joe Woodbury wrote: (Incidentally, you really don't want to live IN Baltimore unless your company is IN Baltimore. Car QuestionMy company is sending me to the US for a couple of years towards the end of this month. I'll be living in or around Baltimore. As part of the deal, the company is paying the lease on a car while I'm there. What I'd like to know is what you guys consider a good American mid-sized car. I'd normally pick Toyota or Mazda, but the leasing company we are using seems to be limited to Chrysler, GM, Pontiac, Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge. I am looking for what is primarily a decent reliable car, perhaps a little sporty, but not a sports car. Something mid-sized, but not a gas guzzler, but also not one of those tiny compact cars. I certainly don't want something that is going to break down every month or two. Anyone got any ideas? Scientists acheive thermonuclear fusion...It doesn't have to be self-sustaining if the energy generated is greater than that put in to each pulse. Why does the world think that Saddam and his ministers are truthful peopleDoug Goulden wrote: Not trying to justify the actions of the US, just tired of hearing about how awful the US is. To bad there really isn't any unbiased source. I've found that the BBC World News coverage seems to be the most honest reporting I have seen. They seem to have a reasonable number of interviews with individuals whose opinions cover all sides of this conflict. Sky News also seems to be unbiased. Followed at a distance by CNN. Fox News, as has been mentioned seems, to be the most biased, even to the point of cutting off interviewees and misrepresenting their views as they happen. They seem to yell a lot. Bathing - various techniquesA shower. I don't feel clean unless I do. A few years ago I had some surgery which afterwards required me to bathe the wound in salty water. The easiest way to do this was to add some salt to a bath. I still had to have a shower afterwards. [WAR] US Patriot hits British planeSo are you going to blast CNN, Fox, and the other news channels who are showing Iraqi POWs on their broadcasts as well? Refactoring...Paul Watt wrote: Visual Studio is an IDE that doesnt hide anything from you, it simply makes the code more visible and adds a few editing features. Except for the initial app wizards and the class wizards it will not write the code for you, and even then those tools are not all that great. Neither will a refactoring tool. I started out in the industry using a line editing program on a Honeywell computer. (In fact my first major program was on punch cards for a Cyber.) How many orders of magnitude better is the VS IDE? I wouldn't want to give up my VS to go back to the old editor. Why stop there? Why not have tools that make it easier to program? Paul Watt wrote: The compiler only checks semantics, it does not verify your logic. That is where the competent programmer is required. The point is that the compiler saves the programmer from making mistakes that could be made using assember. The Assembler saves the programmer from making mistakes that could be made by directly entering the bits into memory. The refactoring tool doesnt stop the programmer from making mistakes. Its value is in assisting the programmer to recover from them. Cheers The universe is driven by the complex interaction between three ingredients: matter, energy, and enlightened self-interest.
