After looking at your articles, I'm pretty sure it'd be a miracle if there were two people like that in the same place. You'll have to get used to impressing others rather than being impressed by anyone.

Why I elephanting love my job... -
Why employees at Apple and Google are more productiveThe main reason is they can afford to hire enough people for the job at hand. That way their employees aren't exhausted from working two people's worth jobs each. Either that or the rest of us are morons who take ages to get things done.

Olathe shootingTroll. You know the type, big ego, dick, macho online where nobody can kick him in his puny testicles. Don't dignify this shît with a reply next time.

A software engineer was detained for several hours by U.S. Customs — and given a test to prove he’s an engineerSo what do they do with proctologists? Do a reverse-probe?

TWCP OTD (The Who Cares Puzzle Of The Day) - 27th of February, 2017Dyslexia or myopia. Maybe even some astigmatism thrown in for good measure. Take your pick (You should post this at a regular time every day, and preferably twice daily 12 hours apart, for those who sleep at the correct time. And in all seriousness this is probably the only 'of the day' I read)

Could these be tehpaparazzi photosOK so you're here because you clicked on my clickbait post. Well next time, don't I mean do click on my posts and read the crap that I drop on this site, but do not click on the "news" that makes the scum more money to spread more discord. Most definitely don't post (or if you're that type, retweet) their filth. [Sally Kohn: Don't like clickbait? Don't click | TED Talk | TED.com](https://www.ted.com/talks/sally\_kohn\_don\_t\_like\_clickbait\_don\_t\_click)

US imprisonment recordsLiving in NYC is indistinguishable from incarceration, but with the disadvantage that you don't turn up on any search engine (unless you're the tweety type), and nobody gives you food for free. (with apologies to the OP, sorry about your loved one's misfortune)

Backlash after Primark pulls 'fantastically offensive' Walking Dead T-shirtPeople bitch about Lady Antebellum's name Ten Little N-words was named something stupid (the novel, in case you didn't know) I can no longer say stop to describe the valve tap without getting censored FFS. Guess they figured it'd cost less to pull the "offensive" stuff quickly. ... and F-word appeared in my Google news feed, from Gizmodo's headline about something. Didn't want to click it at work. The swear police are police are surely up in arms by now

Engineers are cold and dead inside[The results were clear-cut, apparently: engineering students cared nothing for other human beings' feelings and had few of their own. They were cold-hearted and uncaring, remorseless human machines. By contrast the medical students were warm and bursting with empathy and love.](https://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/01/21/engineers\_cold\_and\_dead\_inside/) It goes on to say that "computing students, once gender effects had been eliminated, actually came out basically the same as medical and caring types: they had turned out to be normal, warm, caring human beings. It was in fact the physics-based classical engineers who were dead inside". We know what a load of BS that is. Devs are cold fish too, just like the rest of them.

Jobs forum[This got me wondering](https://www.codeproject.com/Lounge.aspx?msg=5358269#xx5358269xx), wouldn't it be useful to have such a place? Or is there one already? There's the guy in the pub (sorry forgot the name) who's job hunting forever so I bet there are at least a few who'd benefit.

Help! Log-in Screen Not DisplayingDon't use IE. No seriously, use another browser? I actually checked the link. It works fine here. I must be crazy, following strange links. And it's only the beginning of the week too. Maybe you've got some add-on blocking it? No idea what add-ons are available on IE, just a thought.

And so it starts....Strike my reply above. You are right about the stuff in the second half (you should've said so in the first place!), although I do think we should err on the side of caution about AGW. There is no way we're gonna conclusively prove it either way.

And so it starts....I'm going to write a novel too. It will be called "State of Ignorance" A lot of people will ignorelove it.

And so it starts....It's a valid question. It isn't immediately obvious how much he's denying.

And so it starts....I see. So we can pollute the environment but not cause catastrophic changes to it.
-
And so it starts....So you think CAGW is a fraud? Is this limited to CAGW or do you extend this conjecture to all environmental pollution? I mean if all pollution is a hoax, we could just do away with all legislation formulated to protect the environment. Imagine how our industry would thrive, we could beat the pants off China. Is there any other scientific fraud we should be aware of? Carcinogens? The link between smoking and lung cancer? Surely that was concocted to destroy the tobacco industry. Maybe lead and mercury aren't poisonous after all. Complete BS, purely for the benefit of class action lawyers. And what of deforestation? Could it be possible that we'll get along just fine without any trees?

Windows 7 GhostI personally prefer virtual machines with snapshots taken when everything is working. I never install anything on the host OS, so it lasts forever. I haven't got enough patience to make images and restore them when things go sideways. Also, images interfere with my OCD because it takes forever to get all the settings just so. OTOH most of what I do is Linux so I can't say anything about how Visual Studio et al perform on VMs.
