Failure eh? Well I have a great career, I own my $200,000+ home (I don't know many 39 year olds who can say that), I have a loving wife and son, an employer who loves having me work there and I'm just plain happy. I guess if thats your definition of a "failure" then I am guilty as charged :)

I've only been here for 11 months (almost a year now) and I have no clue who this looser is but from what I've seen this is true. I've yet to see anything posted by this person (and I use this term loosely) that could be considered intelligent, well thought out or even semi-reasonable. I agree, the place I work is nice. The dress code (right now for summer) is shorts & a shirt (like Miszou no spaghetti straps, wife beaters and such), now during the winter it is business casual but I can deal with that. Vacation (to start) is 8 hours a month available after the first 6 months, they only give 4 hours sick time a month but I can live with that (and both can roll over year to year, hell I know a guy there who now has 15 weeks vacation time). The pay is decent (it's at least in the top 40% for this side of the state) but at work I can listen to music, they buy IT kick a** equipment to work with (Intel Duo Core Processor (2), 4 GB memory, 2 250 GB drives, ATI X1900 video cards, 2 22 inch monitors), hell they even paid to get a couple of us our MCSD & MCAD .Net certifications. A company would have to have one hell of a package to get me to leave where I'm at now. [ EDIT ] As long as you put in your 8 hours they don't care (you can even do part of it from home. When I went in for surgery 3 weeks the company took a donation from everyone of vacation time so I wouldn't lose any pay while I was recovering [ /EDIT ]

At my current position the first "in-person" interview was with the Director of the department and the VP of IT. The VP asked me how I would solve a problem, gave me a dry erase marker and had me stand at the white board and write my code, oh and he said "I'll leave the room for about 5 minutes while you "code" this". Talk about pressure. When he came back he was impressed with how much I had actually gotten done in the 5 minutes, he explained that he never expected me (or anyone else) to solve the problem in a mere 5 minutes but wanted to see how I worked under pressure. He then sent me home with the "homework" assignment: If you were given a DLL that determined if a day was a holiday (either national or company) how would you calculate how many business days there were in the next 90 days. Not only did I answer the initial question I also took the time to write a class that calculated whether it was a business or national holiday (explaining that I wanted to ensure the object worked the way it was supposed to so that I knew 100% that the results were correct). He said he was impressed and that no interviewee had ever done that much work and invited me back for another interview the next day, ultimately I got the job and within 6 months the VP of IT resigned.

Vista isn't WPA friendly?? Well that sucks, even PCLinuxOS is WPA friendly. No this isn't a post praising Linux so no flameage required, I'm a Windows man I just find it odd that a Linux distro is more WPA friendly than is a version of Windows

The job I have now (3 in-person interview, 2 phone interview) I said nothing about money until the last interview (I figured by that point I had the job) and then I said flat out that I wont work for less than $X amount, they said they couldn't meet that so I told them I was sorry for wasting their time and let them go. The next day they called back meeting my requirements and I've been there ever since.
