XP also sets up the dual boot menu. Last installed at top, in case you ever dual boot 2 same version XPs. Works fine for me, apart from forgetting to be at the computer when the menu appears. Need Another Seven Acronyms... Confused? You will be...

Had the same problem and spent a couple of days tracking it down. I should know better ... no non-essential software on the development machine. Maybe in a VPC. As a note it seems to have an adverse affect on Ultramon as well. When I upgraded iTunes it went whacky. With iTunes out things are stable again. I'll pass on iAnything (tunes, pod, phone). You can also use Google Bookmarks but I prefer to use this application by a fellow CPIAN called 'SurfULater'. It actually makes a copy of the whole thread for you. If you do what Gary said and Permalink it then open that link. Use SurfULater to make a local copy and it organizes it in notebooks and you can do all sorts of cool stuff with it. Too many of those look familiar. I was a comms technician in the SA Air Force, between 1988 and 1996, and some postings involved little but maintaining patch boards, some sometimes looked like that. So many 200 pair cables this side, so many that side, etc.

These folk run some interesting tests of AV products - the results make interesting reading. http://www.av-comparatives.org/[^] The fact mentioned on one post that AVG found some infections 'missed' by Norton may also possibly be linked to its high false positive rate. My recent personal experience, after Norton live update demolished three of my PCs, I moved to Kaspersky on my notebook and immediately reclaimed 100Mb of RAM! Norton took out my notebook, the next day my main PC, so I dashed in to turn off live update on my wife's PC, but, alas too late. My IBM thinkpad crashed to such an extent that I decided to press the magic button and restore to factory settings. installing Norton was OK until I ran live update - again disaster! It turned out that Live Update had updated two dlls in the windows system directory (MSVCP71.DLL and MSVCR71.DLL) but had set the permissions so that normal users had no access rights! So every app developed with VS2003 would fail. I saw this happen on the notebook. What I don't understand is why more people were not affected - I have found a few on some forums, but not many. It did the same thing to the 3 PCs of mine with Norton installed. That means, I can take the vacation again when I'm healthy. That is not a special condition at my company - where I live, it is a law. It does not matter how many days you are gone because of some illness or accident, it does not touch your number of vacation days. In other words: being sick is bad enough, nobody should have additional disadvantages. You might find it strange that a state forces companies to pay employees for lying in hospital. Tired of mangling code to make it work on old versions of IE such as V6 or even Opera. It is not that bad to right code which looks good on the latest versions but man, just one or two prior versions and it is trash!
