I'm interested in negative experience too :) Did you run into any trouble with some provider in the past, or you don't like the idea of hosting the code?

Any opinions on code hosting services? -
Any opinions on code hosting services? Thanks! I forgot to mention that we need to stay with SVN for now, Git support is nice if we decide to move in that direction in the future, but the SVN requirement is critical right now. The TFS service looks nice, will bookmark it for reference. :)

Any opinions on code hosting services?Hey there guys! I'd love some input from the community and any opinions on code hosting services. Our trusty old in-house server, which ran a local subversion server (among other things) just died this week, and we're thinking of moving to a hosted service. There are many comparison websites out there, but I'd prefer input from someone with first-hand experience with these services (reliability, security, suppport...) I've been looking at Assembla, BeanStalk, ProjectLocker and a few others. Anyone here using such service? Or do you prefer keeping the sources on a dedicated server you have control of? Thanks! :)

Handling maxRequestLength errors in IIS6Thanks, but actually, I need to limit file upload size (and handle it in a friendly manner) that's why I set this to 2MB so this would not resolve anything. Btw I did not find any solution to this - it seems to me that it's not possible to handle this in IIS6, whereas it works nicely in IIS7.

Handling maxRequestLength errors in IIS6But of course - as I said in my original post all works well on IIS 7. The maxRequestLength is set to 2048 (2MB) and executionTimeout to 2 minutes. Thanks!

Handling maxRequestLength errors in IIS6Hi there, I'm facing a problem with limiting the file upload size in ASP.NET 2.0, or more specifically, by handling "file too large" errors. I did the development & testing on a Vista Business / IIS 7, where I was able to handle the situation nicely using the Application_Error handler in global.asax. When the uploaded file size is larger than maxRequestLength, I just displayed a friendly error page with explanation. After deploying the application to the production server, which is running Windows 2003 R2 with IIS 6, I realized that this doesn't work. What's worse, in case the file is larger than the limit, it won't display any error message, IIS simply cuts off the connection and browsers display their own error message about the network connection being interrupted. Is there any solution to this problem on IIS 6? All my googling points to websites suggesting the Application_Error handler, or eventually configuring a custom error page in IIS directly, but none of this will work if IIS 6 just cuts off the connection. Also, it does this right in the beginning - i.e. I try to upload a 4MB file and it cuts me off after 5 seconds, not after transferring 2MB (which is my current limit, note that the server is remote and I have 256kbit upload) so it must know about the filesize from the start. I'd like to be able to handle this in a friendlier matter, in a simple way (i.e. handling in .NET code, or by configuring error page in IIS). I know that there are flash uploaders, etc, but those are out of question right now. Any clues or ideas are highly appreciated! Thanks, Rado

FogbugzWe've been using Countersoft's Gemini internally months ago. It's free for up to 10 users and I remember it was basic, but pretty nice at the time. It was version 1.x, and they already have 2.0 which was supposed to bring some integrated screenshot tool, etc, so it could be worth a try... Now we're moving to FogBugz and I'm pretty happy about it, been playing with their online 45-day trial and it looks very promising! Rado

Gas PricesSome 2 days ago I paid $5.17 / gallon - dropped nicely (using Google calculator and current exchange rate). Back in August 2006 it was at $6.12 / gallon, but then the USD was stronger - using the August exchange rate, I get to $5.48 / gallon. Rado PS: I'm located in Slovakia ;)

Laptop Advice? [modified]Thanks, I guess it will support DVD-RAM as the drive is described as "super multi" which should mean just that. It's really hard to find this in laptop specs on manufacturers' websites... Thanks again! Rado

Nation StatesThe Kingdom of Immutability is a tiny, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like. There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Religion & Spirituality, and Law & Order. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Gambling industries. Crime is a serious problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Immutability's national animal is the sloth, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dukat.

Laptop Advice? [modified]So it seems you're satisfied, right? :) How long have you had it? Don't you know if the DVD drive supports DVD-RAM for both read/write? I guess how people react to the noise is really subjective... Thanks again, and sorry to bother you with more quetions.

I just collect key chains from wherever. I'm trying to get as many countries as possible. My sister in law just brought me back keychains from Cyprus, Rome, Egypt and another Greek island I can't remember.
I'll check if I can get something and let you know, though it can take me days or longer. ;)

I'd send all members of communist parties from all around the world here, and somehow lock them in so they couldn't come back to the real world for the rest of their lives! :| Rado

Laptop Advice? [modified]Thanks, those models equipped with 7200 rpm drives seem to be a bit over my budget, so I'll stick with 5400. :) They have a T60 with Core2 Duo CPU and a 5400 rpm drive at the same price as the Acer I'm looking at, so I'll be looking at this one too.

Laptop Advice? [modified]Thanks, I'll check it out, though Dells seem to be harder to get around here than other brands...

Laptop Advice? [modified]Thanks Paul, I read so much positive feedback on MacBooks, but I don't know if I would ever get used to it being a Windows person...

Laptop Advice? [modified]Hmmmmm, these MacBooks are really tempting but I've always been a Windows person... hmmm. You're not making it easy for me :)

Laptop Advice? [modified]Thanks for the link! I recently read about this in Chip (PC magazine). I'll check it out. Rado

Laptop Advice? [modified]We're a small country and still recovering from 40+ years of communism, you know, it'll take more than those 15 years! ;) We've got a lot to offer, but for tourism, the quality of services is very important (transportation, accommodation etc). If you lived here, you could see the improvement over the years, but it's a long-term process... I guess that the mentality of the people will need to change, and that'll take at least 1-2 generations. The laptop availability is quite funny. Dell has a huge support center here for most of German speaking Europe, and still I can't find Dell laptops in the online shops (and their own website sucks). There are plenty of HP, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, Fujitsu Siements, and others, but didn't see a Dell or Gateway yet. What kind of keychains are you after? Maybe I could get something for you ;) Rado [EDIT]Oh my, this year it'll be 18 years since it broke down, not 15, the time runs fast! :)[/EDIT]
