I had to wait until there was a Windows update on my desktop to test if the policy change works. The laptop, which I used the policy change on, said it was up-to-date, but when I clicked the "Check" button it found 2 updates and is installing them. So the change works on Win10. Since posting in this thread I replaced my aged Lenovo laptop with a Surface running Win11 Home. I am girding myself to replace Win11 Home with Pro ...

Thanks for the link. It is nice, but it lacks jump lists, or whatever they are called. For some odd reason this thread triggered a memory of fun times with wallpapers. When digital cameras were first introduced, a bartender friend of mine sent me a photo of herself completely unclothed. On a whim, I made that image my Windows wallpaper. It was quite a nice thing to see on my screen when I woke every morning, and helped to start my days out right. But by and by I acquired another love interest, and thought it might be a bit awkward to keep my wallpaper, so I deleted it. It came back. I deleted it. It came back. After about a week of exploration I discovered that Windows stores multiple copies of one's wallpaper in all sorts of places, and if it can't find the one it's looking for, it will replace it with a backup. Never again will I mess with the default wallpaper! Will Rogers never met me.

Ah yes! I had forgotten about that. I saw that with a Java app. The OS Virtual Memory was mapped unto the same drive/folder where the application log was being written. So after the log had been writing for a while there was no more virtual memory. Delete the logs and the problem goes away. Quite annoying and unexpected problem.
