Sorted it - user error I think. I put a watch on m_hWnd and after calling the function it said the expression could not be evaluated. I had allocated the buffer too small so it seems the buffer was overwritten, and the variable m_hWnd was overwritten! Obseve everything, remember more...

Sysprep from Microsoft . an automated installation response file (sorry, I don't recall how to create it, but on Technet you'll surely find it). . If a high degree of "cutting down" is required, you could use Windows XP Embedded Edition, which will allow you to remove almost everything but the kernel and HAL from Windows XP. Control Panel->Regional Options->Change the Menus and Dialogs combo to the desired language. Of course, the items won't be called "control panel" and "regional options" anymore, so finding them in German is left as an exercise for the reader. (hint, the Regional Options is the one with the picture of a planet that looks nothing like Earth) ;) --Mike--    THERE IS NO     THERE IS NO    BUT THERE IS MAGIC PIXIE DUST  BUSINESS GENIE  CODE PROJECT Homepage | RightClick-Encrypt | 1ClickPicGrabber "You have Erica on the brain" - Jon Sagara to me

Write the commands in a file and make it executable with chmod +x. You can add #! /bin/sh as the first line, but that's not required.

You're right, it's not rocket science, and it shouldn't be hard at all, especially with your configuration! Mine is similar, two hosts (though one is rarely switched on), but I have a dual-homed server with one card on the LAN and the other on the Internet. I set up DNS using the automatic settings created by the windows installer, including the Default-Site zones that not one of the books on the subject mentions. I'm tempted to create another zone and configure it manually, then delete the defaults, but I'm chicken... Good luck!:-D Ancient man conquered his rivals with the jawbone of an ass; modern man uses the jawbone of a politician.

You are a legend man! Thank you very much. My problem was that the frikin tree nav in the left hand panel was not fully loading. But it did not give any errors or look like it was half loaded, so I assumed I was in the wrong place. BTW, that left hand tree really bites because unlike the rest of the MSDN site it cannot be expanded horizontally. So with deep nestings you have to scroll horizontally, highly annoying. Thanks again.
