Just wanted to chip in that I think we should keep this all on CP and not move it over to SourceForge or any other project tool. Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa Chris Losinger wrote: i hate needles so much i can't even imagine allowing one near The Little Programmer

That digest was so fantastic that I am afraid you have shot yourself in the foot because now we will want one each week :-D BTW has anyone even had a brief look at how projects such as Mozilla (Firebird, Thunderbird, Gecko) were done? Whatever one says about open source, Mozilla produced at least one fantastic product. Might be worth checking out their methods and processes. Obviously their scope and depth is far greater than ours at the moment but there may be things to learn from them :) (And I dare say managing that lot must be more difficult than a bunch of CPians.) It would be nice for people to be able to see when you think things will be finished. If that can be accomplished in a milestone schedule, then thats fine. As far as standard documents for projects, I would like to see some semblance of a timeline or a "time to reach goals" chart, or a projected milestones chart. Cool. The project I'm involved with is called ANDE (Advanced Non-Destructive Somethingrather). A small component of our real-time system is called the ANDE Remote Services Extender. ARSE. J "You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant."

I know Paul. I just have a bad habit of throwing in something new so that people reveal their inner soul. Apart from that I dislike stiff orgaizations and like to see people in different positions. My vision about CPP is a democratic structure were we could do fast decisions depending on the current situation. If somebody is on holiday, or sick, or away from CP for a long time, we just elect a new leader to take over and continue. I think anybody staying away from CP for more than one week can be classified as inactive if he hasn't given any reason, or what do you think? Anyhow at the moment I am trying to get over my CP addiction. I have a bad habit of checking CP every 30 min. :) Once a day has to be enough! jhaga CodeProject House, Paul Watson wrote: ...and the roar of John Simmons own personal Nascar in the garage. I voted it a 5, and too often when someone gets a 5 initially, people are all the more aggressive to get it voted down. ;) "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." - Jesus "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi

Well, I thought of doing it in 3D Canvas, but since we are wanting an animal picture, I decided not to. But if you think you can do that, or if you have another idea for a logo, go ahead. What we need most is some animal photos, and some GUI control screenshots. The latter I can't do myself because people expect Windows XP controls and I only have Windows 98. Yikes! I do have a lot of relevent experience in the area, but I should be considered as a last resort. I do suffer from lack of time for extra-time projects outside of work, this is why my article pipeline is currently stalled (with about 5 pending/semi researched articles in it). I also have not really had any experience running a team having been a stand-alone programmer most of my career - until the last year, where I didn't want the management role as there can be too much sh!t to take care of. That said, if I did end up as the leader, I do have a semi-system worked out for it. Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016 Were you different as a kid? If we have competative module building, people are going to come up with good designs / ideas. We should have competition/comparison/merging and iteration stages so that all peoples work does not go to waste. Imagine you spent a week on a section and it was not used at all. That would piss people off, and may cause people to drop out. If people know that anything they submit will go through a review/merge stage and not just used/thrown-away verbatum, then I think things will improve greatly. I thinik it should be free, using something similar to eitther the LGPL, BSD, or even the wxWindows license (it is GPL but has an exception - the code can be used in a commercial app without distributing the source.) If we run across any code we'd like to use that uses a more restrictive license, I say screw it, don't use that code. We'd just have to do that part over.
