When my daughter was twelve, she decided to take the "technology" course being offered at her middle school (6th-8th grades). The course was basically bullship and being taught by an ex-Industrial Arts teacher in an attempt to make it look like the school knew computers were taking over the world. (This was in the days of Win3.1) The class, we found out later, was traditionally all male - left over from the days when it was a "shop" class and they made birdhouses or whatever. At any rate, she was harrassed unbelievably, finally being confronted by a 180 lb 8th grade football player (she was in the 6th and probably didn't weigh 100 lbs) who backed her into a corner and grabbed his groin while thrusting his hips at her and making grunting noises. Of course, because young teens think their school is a separate world, her mother and I hadn't heard anything about this until that point. The next day at school, we were told that "boys will be boys." We told the principal that unless the school suspended the punk immedately they were looking at a lawsuit. We ended up with a week off followed by his being removed from that class, a task force to write an official sexual harrasment policy for the school system, and a written apology from the superintendent, principal, and teacher. I did call his parents and explain that next time the little shite even looked at her funny, I'd kick his ass so hard my shoe would be in his mouth - or words to that effect. Oakman wrote: Not sure what you mean here - are you talking about printing money? No, just standard Keynesian analysis. If people don't want to spend all their income, then they need to find someone to spend it in their place or else demand declines and income falls. They can lend to business for investment or to other consumers for consumption or to government for government spending. In the present climate, there is a reluctance on the part of the private sector to take up other people's savings and spend them, so the government has to. Printing money is a different matter. Oakman wrote: I do? Only as a total repudiation of the debt do I see that happening I said: "Zero debt is not in prospect", meaning that zero debt was very unlikely. You expressed disagreement. Presumably there is some miscommunication at work here. Oakman wrote: It appears, more and more, that Obama is doing the same thing that Bush did - but with a whole new set of black holes to shovel money into. I take a more optimistic view, but we will see how it unfolds in the following years. John Carson

Yeah, he does. He needs to stop masturbating over everyone else's opinions and just get his own though. STOP BOTHERING PEOPLE WITH YOUR STUPID SHIT THAT NOBODY HERE CARES ABOUT. GET YOUR OWN BLOG. POST YOUR BULLSHIT THERE. IF PEOPLE GIVE A FUCK THEY'LL READ IT. IF THEY DON'T, THEY'LL AT LEAST TRY TO HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT IT WITH YOU (if they care enough to even try talking to you of course that is). THINK OF THE NARCISSISTIC EGOMANIACAL MASTURBATORY POSSIBILITIES! You could amass legions of fanboys and enemies alike, and spend HOURS every day contemplating what you're going to post or link to next! You could put a "blogroll" section in there that would auto-update all of the links from all of your favorite blogs for you automatically... JESUS H. I'm going to have to stop now, lest the way thinking about that will likely make Troy feel result in a big sloppy mess all over his keyboard and monitor...

Actually you could volunteer at a soup kitchen, get free meals, and contribute to your community at the same time. I was homeless living on the street in my teens and twenties on and off for a few years. Never filed nor collected welfare or food stamps. I will take unemployment when I've earned it but I draw the line there. But I was able to contribute as a volunteer and be taken care of at the same time. Productive and useful. Plus it helps to be directly involved with many different types of people who struggle today to get a sense of your own situation and how easy you probably really have it. Not to mention losing a bit of self importance that goes along with the self-centric world view that anything belongs to you. This statement is false

Easier just to donate directly to their red cross[^] directly I suspect. Since they only take $AU I suspect you'll be hit with whatever your CC charges in conversion fees.
