I was going to make a Madagascar reference! (Is it really an 'old Flash game'? I feel old now.)

Leading climate scientists call on religious leaders to help save the environmentLots of people listen to spiritual leaders and ignore what science tells them, particularly if it's inconvenient. So it seems like a pretty sensible move to me.

QOTDIt's 15c (I wish I can buy chips for that!) but there's something about that question that provides a strong urge to say 30c. I've got a very similar question wrong in the past by saying the 'obvious' thing.

Dad's ArmyI'd like to be positive about it since it's got Yorkshire connections but honestly I can't see this being anything but a horrible mangling and a disaster.
-
'Granddad, what was an offspinner?'Heh, that's quite good. I don't think all offies have a chuck, though, do they?

Do You Work In A Specific Industry? Not really. My company is a consultancy so we have clients in a variety of sectors. I like variety and learning about domains so that's good for me. That said I've spent the last nearly 3 years working with oil and gas clients for the most part.

...been out for some months, and now I'm here again! :)So I take it the job is in a phase where you can get out a bit now, since you're posting again? Work/life balance and the chance to take exercise and do other fun spare time stuff is important, don't overdo it!

Hot!Open the window, then keep working and try not to complain about it. Mind you 'hot' has different meanings in different places.

The profile matches...It's pronounced 'nucular'! Looks like dull upper management work to me but the pay is probably good.

A little bit of a sad WESad news, hopefully you feel happier soon. Unfortunately if you get a pet, it will die at some point before you do (unless you get a giant tortoise or something, I suppose). The period of pain at the end is worth it for the years of happiness, though.

common core mathAye. It works well for that. Not for maths in general, though!

Before Starting A New Contract....Well, fine. I'm not sure why you made a post asking for thoughts if you're going to respond to my thoughts like that, though.

Money and happinessThis post is made significantly better by having a Nigerian sounding username! I always say that money doesn't make you happy, it just stops you from being unhappy due to being poor. But that's still pretty significant.

Before Starting A New Contract....I don't handle this kind of stuff for my current business, but when I was self-employed, or if I were to go back to individual contracting, I'd be more flexible than this. If someone wants to bring a contractor in, it's probably because they don't know exactly what they want (otherwise they'd get code monkeys to just write it), so answering most of those points is part of the brief. I'd get a rough idea of what they wanted, how long they expected it to take to get there and how much money they were prepared to throw at me, and then if it seemed like a job worth taking I'd get into the details of platform, technology stack etc and what the requirements might be. If you nail everything down at the start you can guarantee it won't be like that any more by the middle, never mind the end. Better to clue the client in on that up front so you can work with changing requirements, not against them.

Lowering the voting age to 16I don't think it's a good idea for 16 year olds to vote as a matter of course. I think it is a very good thing for 16 year olds to be able to vote in a referendum on the future of their country, and it must be really galling that 16-55 year olds voted with quite a convincing margin for independence, only to be denied the future they wanted by old people who have a pretty short future. There's no guarantee that 16 and 17 year olds would vote for the SNP in a general election.

Most Amazing ExperienceNot sure if wind-up, reference to something I didn't see on CP, or what.

Good grief! 32 years...Yeah Riley is pretty close to the perfect woman, beautiful, clever and funny.

Good grief! 32 years...I used to watch it in my school days sometimes. And in boring lessons a few of us would use our calculators to generate random Numbers Game challenges instead of listening to the class. I'm not very good at the word ones though, I usually get 5 or 6 and watching the real thing was a bit disillusioning when they were on 8 and 9 every time!

Beware of CPROTDConsidering you can't get downvoted in here any more (STILL A BAD CHANGE CHRIS!), the risk is pretty minimal.
