Hi, I see so much discussion on this conflict in the Western Media. Fears abound that these two will use nuclear force against each other. But anyone who has lived in either and is not a Muslim or Hindu fanatic knows that this is impossible. India's rulers and Pakistan's rulers have accounts in the same Swiss banks. They both make money off all defence purchases including coffins that transport the remains of dead soldiers. There is no way these guys will nuke each other. This is all just posturing to keep the starving masses happy. It serves the interests of both rulers to do this sabre rattling, sign a few defence deals etc. The Pakistanis probably bought stuff from the Chinese and call it a 'Islamic' bomb. The Indian bomb was developed by a team headed by a Muslim from South India. The fanatics in India call it a 'Hindu' Bomb. Any William fans out there?I am referring to the series of books about William the rascally boy by Richmal Crompton. All this stuff about British royalty made me remember William :) Just thinking about William's adventures makes me laugh. Amazon UK link Growing up in India these books were everywhere. In the US I have not seen them anywhere. Regards, Suresh

Why does C# programmers useIt is rather nice to use 'this' if you are not using the Hungarian notation. You can readily distinguish members. Another reason is that you get Intellisense support for members of the current class. Regards, Suresh

Multi-user OutlookHi Tom, Enjoyed your book! :) Take a look at the Mercury IMAP server. There is a preview release (very stable) that is available for download here: ftp://risc.ua.edu/pegasus-previews/m32-330.exe The Mercury server is freeware and is by the author of Pegasus Mail. I have been running it for a while now for the exact same needs that you have described and it has been great. Takes 15 minutes to setup. Regards, Suresh

Stingray, Rogue Wave, and Scot WingoRobert Vista wrote: Ever since the Stingray - Rogue Wave merger the Stingray products and support have gone to the toilet. Where did Scot Wingo end up? He created another company, sold it for 160 million and currently runs: http://www.channeladvisor.com/ As for the products I think that they have no developers left: Press release They also shut down the Stingray Site that they had in the RTP, North Carolina area. And for some reason they do not plan to have these nice products on .NET/Windows forms. Post on Rogue Wave forum Regards, Suresh

Dundas vs Code JockTomasz Sowinski wrote: Just stay away from Stingray's Objective Toolkit. It just sucks I have used Objective Toolkit in the past and thought that it was good. It has not been updated and support sucks but is the product itself that bad? Regards, Suresh

windows vs web UIIf your clients will be able to install the .NET runtime, Windows Forms may be just what you are looking for. You can build a rich Windows UI that can be easily deployed over the internet. Scary stuffI do not think that it is a virus. The AV programs are mistaking it for the JS.Menger.Worm. I looked at the code. It seems harmless. They talk about the worm in this note. http://tom.me.uk/msn/ Regards, Suresh

Scary stuffhttp://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/24004.html Look at: http://tom.me.uk/msn/demo.html And http://www.osioniusx.com/ I fixed most problems tweaking my Proxomitron ruleset (http://www.proxomitron.org). But the stuff that can be done really shocks me. And all it takes is some simple script :omg: Regards, Suresh

.NET reverse engineeringNot really correct. Once obfuscated reading IL is not very different from reading X86 assembly code. It maybe takes a little more skill to read assembly. That is about all the difference though. Regards, Suresh

.NET reverse engineeringThere are commercial obfuscators out there. Here is one: http://www.wiseowl.com/products/Products.aspx Regards, Suresh

India test-fires short range nuclear missile>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> In India, Muslims and Hindus co-existed till the arrival of the British. The mistrust in each-other have been a direct consequence of British polcies, that led to the partition of India. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Correct me if I am wrong but I think there was no 'India' before the British arrived. There were dozens of princely states that were are war with each other. But there was no single entity ever in recorded history. Millions of Indians are starving. The country had a record number of starvation deaths last year. Yet, the President lives in a palace bigger than the White House and maybe even Bill Gate's house. The prime minister and his cabinet live and travel in luxury. They have every reason to be patriotic. All this stuff with Pakistan is just to keep the starving masses happy. 'If we give them more than a healthy dose of patriotism, perhaps they will not notice our billions' is the idea. Suresh

Is this fair?I was evaluating stuff from codejock.com. Check this out. Do you folks feel that doing something like this is acceptable marketing practice? Stuff that bothers me 1) Specific samples are shown. Those samples could actually be showing additional features. For example the double gripper (that is shown in the Outlook Stingray sample) could be an additional feature of the Stingray package. 2) It puts down the other products without giving the user any real technical comparison. I am all for technical contrast but this sucks. Any thoughts? Regards, Suresh

MS Outlook accessing POP3One caveat though. IMAP is not intended to work in download and disconnect mode. You do have to be connected to the server to get maximum use. Outlook and Outlook Express do cache messages and allow disconnected operation (for previously read messages). If you have an always on connection then IMAP is the way to go. Suresh
