Good luck with Geraldo, too -- he's planning to go off to Afghanistan and do his part to help the war efforts, which basically amount to riding around on a camel and videotaping things.

Max Payne, and a little Deus Ex. I'm waiting for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and for the day when my engine is done so I can start developing my own ideas on it.

It's Sunday afternoon - most people will be asleep after a huge Sunday roast. Either that or having a beer and watching football -- the real kind, the one where only two players per team touch the ball with their feet.

Hey wait a second that looks suspiciously like Klingon (yes, I know, this immediately identifies me as weird). Is Aqkuoerian actually realted to Klingon? If you look at the bottom of the alphabet page, you'll see a credit to www.kli.org, which turns out to be a Klingon site of some sort. So I believe Aqkuoerian actually IS Klingon. Not being the resident Aqkuoerian expert, though, I'm not 100% sure. Dr. Wulff will have to verify that one.

Is it possible to tag the userID/password with a corresponding IP address/host mask on the remote machine (which I assume is a server of some kind)? Or does this extension have to work entirely on the client side of things? Also, out of curiousity, what game's this?

What if I believed that I was superman? I would have faith in that assumption, but I would most likely end up in a Mental Hospital. Was there a point to that statement? Sure, sometimes blind faith is a bad thing. It's up to the individual to decide whether believing in God falls under that category.

Anyway, what proof does "god" give to the individual? Needing proof goes against the idea of faith. I believe in God, yet I really have no physical proof that tells me there is a God. Instead, I'm relying on gut instinct and my own personal views on the universe. Someone who truly believes in God doesn't need proof of his/her/its' existence, they just believe. Of course, you can also start reading into things and inventing proof, viewing things like "faith healing" or "praying in tongues" as being signs of God.

Either way, because salvation is not earned, you are correct in thinking it has nothing to do with how nice a person you are. It may seem ridiculous, but it's only because God is more generous than you would apparently like. It does seem ridiculous, and that's one of the things I don't like about religion. Yes, religions also try to preach morality and values, but telling people "doesn't matter what you do on earth, so long as you believe" is wrong. It's good that God is offering us the chance to redeem ourselves -- I've no problem with that -- but there should really be a line somewhere. Someone like say, Osama bin Laden, should not be allowed into heaven, no matter how regretful he feels. Let him regret and burn in hell too, I say. Yeah, the above example doesn't really work since bin Laden isn't Christian and probably has different beliefs on heaven/hell/Christ, but you get the idea. Again, certain things that are deemed "sins", like envy or jealousy, are just part of being a human being, and it's good that God can forgive them. But murder? Rape? No way.

To preface this, I do believe in God, but I think organized religion is a load of BS. Well said, David. I had a look at the site myself after someone mentioned their "Athiesm Test", and it's just what you said, flawed theories with no real logic, and one-sided arguments. All the proof they provide is either that "you can't prove it wrong so it's right" tactic, or passages from the Bible. It was interesting, though, to read about how I'll be damned to suffer in a lake of fire forever simply because I've sinned and don't worship/believe in Christ. If God is really so demented as to judge us all based on how strongly we worship Jesus, and not how morally we lived our lives, I'll jump into the lake of fire myself. Assuming that I'm interpreting this right, the notion that a killer who repents to Christ can get into heaven while I, a moral person who doesn't follow Christianity, is condemned to hell is absolutely ridiculous.

It actually makes sense when you think about how you would say the date. We don't say "3rd October, 2001", it's "October 3rd, 2001". So the numeric date just follows the same month-day-year format. Of course, it could be that we say dates that way as a result of how we format the numbers and not the other way around. In which case you have a valid point there. :)

Its nice of u to know who did it. Is that the point of what i asked? Now answer me carefully. Did the Taliban also have this money trail etc? NO I seem to remember that all that came after the request for the criminal. Osama Bin Laden was a known terrorist before these attacks. As Tim said, a reasonable country would have handed him over purely on that knowledge. They refused to. We should not need to provide any more proof to the Taliban, but instead of doing anything too quickly, we're releasing evidence and giving them a chance to hand Bin Laden over. No, they didn't have this money trail ahead of time, but again, Bin Laden was not just recently found to be a terrorist. The Taliban, and the rest of the world, have known about him for years.

Go on and 'Pour a bucket of sun' over the whole country. While you are doing that remember Oklahoma! Remember the initial reaction, subsequent findings and punishment! Did anyone nuke the criminal and his country? The difference is that we had no evidence pointing to Bin Laden or any other Arab terrorists in Oklahoma City. Here, we've already got a money trail, wire transfers, identities of the hijackers...we know who did it, and now we're planning a retaliation against them.

A.A., I'd humbly request you remove the stick from your arse. Where in the world are you when visitors post obscene pictures, and other things which are totally unsuitable for the younger audience that visit codeproject. Sorry. None of us were aware that the eight-year-old coding gurus visiting this programming website would be offended by pictures of the middle finger. We'll try to keep things a bit cleaner in the future, okay? Ofcourse on the other hand they might be related to 'MFC, COM and another technologies'. This is not a programming forum, this is the Lounge. From the description at the top of the page: The Lounge is a place where you can discuss anything that takes your fancy. If you just want to laze about and discuss things that don't quite fit elsewhere, then this is the place. In case you hadn't noticed, 90% of the stuff on this forum has no relation to programming. That's how it was intended. Lighten up.

Hassan, Master of Diversionary Trolling, hath returned... He used the word "crusade". Big deal. Look at the definition of the word, and you see a remedial enterprise undertaken with zeal and enthusiasm. We're planning to remedy the terrorist situation, and are going about it with zeal and enthusiasm. End of discussion. Bush was in no way referring to a Crusade in the medieval context, and I wish these "politically correct" zealots would stop making that reference.

Also, try www.gamasutra.com for some higher-level (more abstract, little actual source code) information on game design. If you're looking to get into engine design, I'd recommend David H. Eberly's 3D Game Engine Design. It can be a dry read at times (although most game engine books are ;P), but has some very good information, plus a CD with loads of functional source code. Definitely a good addition to your library.

he will have to plan it, design it, test it and release it, and probably release service packs for it too Yep, I could see that one... "Sorry, everyone. Due to a flaw with the FileDup™ module, the QR-291 virus fails to properly compress and send the contents of any hidden or system directories. This problem has been fixed in version 2.1. @Home cable modem users are asked to visit our website and manually download the virus, which will begin to effectively propagate it across the Internet. We apologize for any inconvenience." ;)

The thing that got to me with the whole sports situation was the athletes complaining about "not wanting to work after this tragedy". As Tim said, everyone else, save for those who no longer had a place to work, was back the next day. If the argument had been "we aren't playing out of respect, we don't feel it'd be right to have a celebratory event", I'd be fine with that, but not wanting to resume work? Unless they personally lost someone, then the circumstances are the same as with all the rest of us.

  • Who is Responsible?
    G Gregg Carlstrom

Yeah, personally, I find the "an American pilot did most of the flying" philosophy hard to believe. As has been said, if you're going to die one way or the other, you might as well take the option that results in the least death and destruction. If the terrorists were unable to fly the planes, then the pilots might have been able to crash into a different, less populated area; if the terrorists could fly the planes, then the point is moot.
