Thanks. Is this the right forum for this? Would somewhere else be better here? maybe c++? I'm willing to pay for a solution also if it has to be done from scratch.

secure channel between server/client -
secure channel between server/clientThanks Curtis. I have full control over both servers. Is there a program out there that can be automated in an install and run like a service so it's seamless to the end users?

secure channel between server/clientI need some help with an upcomming project. There is a 3rd party application that communicates with it's management tools across 4 different ports. I need something in C# or C++ that basically secures the channel between the client and the server. I just want to secure the channel, not intercept the data if possible. I have no access to the 3rd party app or it's code etc. I'm looking for some direction for where to look for this type of technology and possibly a contractor to implement this. Please let me know your thoughs about how to do it or if you have/can implement something like this. If you have done this in the past, please give me an example and an estimate of the cost for you to implement this for me. Thanks.

Kickboxing (sort of)Hey Brian. If you don't mind me asking, where did you take it and who was the instructor? I work with a woman that teaches that. I need to do something also, but never have the time...

GoDaddy...I use serverbeach also. No problems and the machine flies. They have a huge data pipeline also.

Microsoft apps written in VB or .NETMS's CRM product was written in C# Parts of vs.net were written in c#. I think the entire upper part of the .net framework are in c#. The lower level stuff like garbage collection are still in c++. I may be wrong on this though.

Dude, Did I Steal Your Job? Debugging Indian Computer ProgrammersI've hit the same problems. What I did find out though, is that RAC usually leads to full local type money after you do a good job for someone. I have converted several people from there to my full time hourly charge once they see that decent software costs decent money. I have made a TON of money fixing stuff for people that come to me off RAC and say they got a crappy job done or an unfinished product there please help also. I think that many people fail to realize that the good off shore coders be they Indian or not still make a lot more than RAC and aren't on there. Having said that, there are several companies on RAC that seem to do a very good job, but if you look at their history, they usually only take well paying jobs.

freelance programmingyou also get what you pay for. I have made some decent money off people that have tried rac and gotten a cheap deal. Most of the time the programmer screws it up and I can charge my normal rate to fix it or rewrite it. I have also done good work on a project for people on rac and had them convert to a customer of mine at my normal rates a couple of times. I use rac to fill in the gaps in work and every once and a while I end up with a good client from it.

Source control problemsI'll second the vault vote. I have been using it for around a year now in a very small install. It works great. Haven't tried it with a lot of dev's though.

New development tool ideas?3rd it :) I really like it also.

VC#2005 will have edit & continueI have been having this problem on 1 machine also. I have several others that work fine. Don't know what it is, but I'll try your tip tonight. Hope it works. Thanks for that! If it does work, I'll try to figure out why I get the temp files on 1 machine and not others and post back.

/clr and C codeI have a C dll that I didn't write so I don't know what's really going on in it. It compiles fine. If I turn on the /clr switch though, I get about 20 errors out of it like c:\Parser\link42\src\pp_lexer.c(680): error C2197: 'pp_lexer__create_buffer' : too many arguments for call through pointer-to-function I also get an error that points to stdlib.h which I don't understand either. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\Vc7\include\stdlib.h(368): error C2192: parameter '1' declaration different pointing to _CRTIMP void __cdecl perror(const char *); Is this because of my trying to compile in as C code and clr trying to reference a new copy of stdlib.h or something? My c++ is very rusty. Can anyone tell me what is wrong or what I can do to fix it? I was under the impression that /clr really didn't do that much. TIA

MDaemonTrue. Since he's a spammer that may be good though. Less emails going out... Don't know if it will help, but MD's website states that it requires 512 meg of mem for itself. Doubt he has anywhere near that free with asp.net and iis running.

MDaemonYou have to learn to use these situations to your advantage... :) Agree with him and then charge him 20K to buy and put in exchange.

This weekend I became a sissy"So what is not impressive about Doom III? I am curious to know if it is worth it." The graphics are out of this world. It gets very repetitive though after a while. Same old ID style gameplay. Shoot anything that moves. I would have liked to see them beef up that some. Can't beat the graphics though.

multiple file scan filterOh well, thanks for the info. I'll get all and filter myself then. John

multiple file scan filterIs there a way in c++ that I can do a file scan across a harddrive with multiple filters at once? Like search my HD for files that contain the filters *abc*|*def|rty| etc etc. I may have quite a few of them and don't want to keep scanning over and over for each one. I would prefer to do this in C#, but I'm fairly sure you can't. I can put a managed wrapper around some c++ if it will do this. TIA

Microsoft Data Access Application Block for .NETI've found it's a good place to start with. Takes some work to get it up to speed though all the way. I usually put another tier over it when using it. One example is that it doesn't support typed datasets.

Help! Police! This is not an emergency!lol. That would be funny to get a spider call. I wonder if the US has these same problems? We may not. I think there is a fairly stiff penalty for prank calling 911. I doubt they would do anything for a spider call though.

Laptop purchase. Spend my money please!Always do a google search for Dell Coupons if you go with them. Right now you can get an additional 150 off with a coupon until 6-9-04. 200 if you get an expensive one. That's over and above the dell deals they offer which already includes 150 off the 9100's. I had a 15wsxga 3.2ht 7200rpm 60 gig 1gig mem comfigured for 17something tonight. Now to just figure how to pay for it... ;)
