Okay, how many people are begging you to sell your iphone now? I have a daughter that wants one :)

I've owned an iphone first gen, a Motorola Q Global 9h, and now an iphone 3g. I definitely prefer the tactile feel of the keyboard for the Q. I don't know if you can compare the experience to a Bold, so I'm just comparing tactile to touchscreen in that context. As you can tell in the end, I went back to the iPhone. I like the larger viewing screen immensely, I miss bluetooth sharing, I love the ability to easily customize the iphone through the apps store, I miss voice command (and that's probably a Q feature or a Win6.1 feature) and I miss MMS (with the upcoming OS3 upgrade hopefully that will be remedied). One of the coolest features I have on my iphone is the ability to remote into my windows PCs using either VNC or LogMeIn. Personally, in the long run and once you get used to the touch screen, you'll like if not love your iphone. Just hold out for the iPhone 3G(S) which comes out tomorrow I think. You get the OS3 already loaded plus you're getting a faster processor and better battery.

I'm 42 and loving every moment it took to get here, no regrets! I admit I once thought 40 was old until I got there, then I realized birthdays are just a celebration of all the love, happiness, friends, and blessings that have come into my life.

Perhaps IE8 doesn't have the ability to determine "where" a page was saved from. It is probably just detecting a locally accessed page, thus the need for the "Mark of the Web". I have the same problem with html help documents I create from a program called FLARE. If I don't include the "Mark" then I get the warning when viewing them from the harddrive...that goes for IE7 too. ---- Well shoot! I'm just para-parrotting. Anyway, the consensus will more than likely end up being not so much a "bug" with IE8, though it may be bugging you. ( :sigh: sorry for the pun, couldn't resist )

I too have a Motorola Q, but I don't have the same issues you're mentioning. What version of the Q do you have? What OS is it running? Mine is the Motorola Q 9H Global by AT&T and it's running WM6.1. To unlock mine all I have to do is press the left-soft key and then the asterick. The backlight automatically comes on. If I want to just check the time any key activates the screen and the backlight only comes on if the light sensor indicates it's needed. What I wish I could do is modify the "short-cuts" on the home screen. Mine uses the sliding panel interface and I really don't find some of the pre-defined shortcuts useful, but I don't want to change to the wm-standard interface for those hokey icons across the top of the screen.

This reminds me of my late cat's "passion" bear. The bear didn't sing or anything, it was just this really really fluffy as in troll-doll hair fluffy and cyan blue, a crayola bear - my father bought it for my daughter after a stay in the hospital. It was my daughter's favorite bear and we would put her to bed with it. Often we would find this bear left on the couch, under the dining table in a computer case...weird places and we would get on to her about leaving it all over the place. She would deny it, of course and we would get on to her for fibbing or being forgetful. Until one night - my then husband came into the living room hours after Nan had gone to bed, he was quite amused and wanted me to follow him, so I did. In his office in side a tower-case housing was our one year-old cat having his way with his "passion" bear...I was horrified (and amused at the same time) because we had been putting that bear in bed with Nan every night since she came home from the hospital. We washed the bear, but husband didn't know to let it air-dry, and well the dryer really did a number on the fur...after that neither my daughter nor the cat had anything else to do with "passion" bear...so there it sits on her shelf 15 years after the incident. She's moved out, married, and had a daughter of her own. I asked her if she wanted her daughter to have it. The answer was a very loud "NO!" ;P

I appreciate a good scotch myself, but when I posted it was morning (as it is now with this post), and coffee was the appropriate beverage of the hour. The spewing of the concoction, and thus it's waste, was alleviated by the fact that it's shabby office vendor coffee. In regards to "spanking the hamster" maybe the line from "Holy Grail" finally makes sense now. :omg:

ha ha! Yeah my best friend and I still snort knowingly at each other whenever we hear folks use "In retrospect..." during conversation. Or, we'll use catch phrases from the storyline, and award virtual points to those that get it when we do. Sorta like references to the "Milk Bar", but I dye grass.

Isn't that like peering into the firey depths of Hell? Well yeah maybe for Raggot. Oh I remember the first time I read that back when the inter webs was all shiny and new, just a minuscule rain cloud in Al Gore's brainstorm, and everything was true. The top ten scary things listed in that story had me in tears then and still makes me laugh out loud when I read it now. Ahhh the good ol' days when setting fire to your gerbil was much more entertaining than spanking a hamster.

Ok, thank you for making me spew coffee everywhere. The first thing that came to my mind was "In retrospect...." the gerbil and open flame story that went around "teh 'net" way back in the day. Raggot the Unfortunate Gerbil[^]

How cool, my granddaughter's name was number one for 2008 (but this means she'll be competing with oodles of Olivia's) and my daughter's name was 19th...I wonder what rank it was in 89. And like Ennis, I don't recall ever seeing my first name on the list.

I use a program called Floola to back up my ipod music - it's just an alternative to sharepod. http://www.floola.com/modules/wiwimod/index.php?page=download[^]

I've been there for the last 3 years... I guess I don't have any choice but to howl at the moon :| Though I would prefer not to do it naked on a roof. Perhaps I'll have sense enough to go out in the woods when I finally go insane. More than likely the ulcers will get me first. X|

Agreed, his blaming the program is about as responsible as driving into on coming traffic, having a wreck and then blaming the driver of the car you collided with. It IS quite irritating to see those types of posts. Pointing that out in a constructive way may have a more positive impact than expressing your ire. Then again, probably not since nothing is his fault where surfing the web is concerned. Perhaps it wasn't his surfing habits that infected him, especially if it's a home computer shared by children and/or significant others. Certainly if his computer had been firewalled to the point that there were actual bricks around it and his browser input so heavily encrypted that even Deep Blue couldn't decipher it - maybe he wouldn't have contracted malware in the form of pr0n ads. But because IE is so poorly coded how could anyone ever expect to be safe on the web? I can be very judgemental in ways I probably should not, but it always bother me to see it expressed among peers - no matter what the level of peerage. Having been (and still am) the subject of seemingly similar harshness, I try to refrain from casting stones. I guess I just stick to the rule "if you don't have anything good to say..." For who knows, anger and frustration can make us type lots of things that we know not to be true, or if we took a logical moment to think about it would never say in print much less in person - and this person could have been just so.

Sad, sad little person...
Was it really necessary to insult this guy without offering a solution? So what if his surfing habits are questionable? And if they are, yes, he'll probably have to go through all this numerous times, but I still don't see the value in being nasty to him about it. Seriously if you think so little of him, why even bother posting? Just so the rest of us can know how judgemental you are? :( Meh, why am I even bothering to post since I'm offering nothing in a tangible solution? I'm not the forum police, but this really did strike a wrong note with me. :sigh:

I know you said you want to keep it under $200 so I have to also vote for the ATI 4850. I've always run ATI in my gaming machines. Currently I'm running two 4850's in crossfire and can crank most games to their max in graphic out put :D
