Visual Studio 2010 Pro Sucks -
DOHAnd I expect that they (the recruiting company) expect to pay around or below junior dev money for this mythical being with the encyclopedic/photographic memory!

DOHAbout six years ago now I had an interview at a small company in Manchester. Part of the was a programming test on VB6, something I didn't do often (still don't! ). For some reason I decided to go straight into help, and it wasn't there. The senior engineer said in all seriousness: "We don't believe in using help". I still aced the interview and test, but declined the job. The slave traderrecruiter wasn't very happy, and asked me why, and I told him about that and the fact that unlike as advertised they had no intention of moving to .NET (my primary reason for moving). He swore that they did, and he'd organise a conference call to discuss my qualms. Quite early in the conversation the senior technical guys said: ".NET is a flash in the pan, it isn't the future, you need to concentrate on VB6, that's where the money is!" The recruiter ended the call soon after.

Stupd freight companyMy best experience to date was with a set of builders merchants, I ordered two 4'x8' plaster boards from them, and they promised to deliver on Saturday morning. I waited in all morning and at 5 to twelve (Midday being the time they close) I rang and asked where my boards were. The manager said they'd left them outside as there was no-one in. I told him a) I'd been in all morning waiting, and b) there were no boards outside. He got the driver and asked him where he delivered, to which he said Longford Road West. I had quite clearly told them I live on Longford Road (there is a difference, it's a pain). The manager asked him why he'd delivered there to which the driver replied that the invoice said to deliver to Longford Road. :wtf: It was pointed out that Longford Road West != Longford Road, but the driver couldn't grasp this. Luckily they sent someone else to collect the boards from the original drop off point, and bring them to my house.

Mouse deathI know this is a heresay, but on the off-chance you're in the UK get down to a PC World, they usually have most of the mice out on display to try (yes, they're worn, and slightly broken, but at least you can try the feel of it out), and then obviously go and buy it much cheaper off of t'internet.

Moped or Motorbike? If you want to ride a Moped you need to take Compulsory Basic Training, you can then ride the bike with L plates. However you either have to take a test or re-do the training within two years. Having said that one of my colleagues here does the Didsbury to Manchester city centre comute on a moped (That's where the info on the CBT and test came from!) and it's the fastest way taking him about twenty minutes each way, and not a lot slower in bad weather. The only problem he's had is that the steering lock on his moped was broken when burglars attempted to steal the bike. But using a big chain and not putting the steering lock on (after having it repaired) has sorted that out.

Free installer maker?I use the visual studio setup projects some times. My major gripe is that the documentation is difficult to find, and when you do find it some one has tended to use to practice obfuscation techniques... :(

Football (Soccer) QuestionDon't tell the Northern Irish, Welsh or Scottish that... And as for the English? The Daily Mail will be sending a reeducation unit pronto... ;)

Can I turn my desktop into a bluetooth printerThe easy part is equipping your machine to talk Bluetooth. There are litterally dozens of USB Bluetooth dongles available. Get one that comes with the WIDDCOMM Bluetooth stack. The difficult part is providing a printing profile/service. Anything that is done over Bluetooth is done via a service/profile. Priniting will have it's own service/profile, and it will this that you attach to the printer. I've checked my own WIDDCOMM powered dongle and it doesn't come with a printing profile/service.

FootBall, Soccer, FutBol...... [modified]Ah, I see you've fallen into the presses trap of thinking that England are a one man (Rooney) team... They aren't. :) Thankfully. Anyway, as things are going it looks like he'll be back for the end of the first round of matches.

FootBall, Soccer, FutBol...... [modified]As a commentator on the Jaimaca game put it, Ericssons a lucky manager, and that's mostly what he brings to the side. If everyone's fit by the end of the first round we have as good a chance as anyone. My feeling is that we'll be out in the first round or get as far as the semi's...

Talk about bad timingAre these the same Lordi who just won Eurovision?

Soccer CoachingIt very much depends on Swedish rules, but the british government tends to ask permission from the other government, so in theory it would come down to the Swedish king. Or that's my understanding anyway. I suppose it all goes back to the days of yore... As for the adverts, it is all getting a bit manic isn't it? And the funny part is my company is paying for me to go to TechEd, thus missing the start of it all! I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry! :D
-
Soccer CoachingSo long as the Swedish King agrees, he'd get one.
