I'm specifically avoiding SATA here. Nothing but me, looooooooooong IDE cables, and two IDE drives.

Not if I partition the disk with GParted into nice little chunks first! My plan is a a 20 GB FAT32 part for Win98, 10 GB for Debian ext3 and how it likes it's partitions, maybe 40 for Vista NTFS if it's possible and the rest in a shared FAT32 partition

x86 is an unstoppable juggernaut; every time to dethrone it has failed. The sheer amount of apps, OSes, backwards compatiblity, I don't see ARM becoming a de facto desktop CPU standard. Maybe if you port Windows (desktop Windows, CE is crap) it will be used.

Because I wanna play Red Alert and Descent 3 at 1680x1050 dammit, all natively, I'm curious how installing Windows 98 will go with 1 GB RAM. (I do know of tricks to get it to play nice with more, just that I'll be installing. I'd buy 2 512 MB sticks but they don't have DDR2 800 ones :( ) If needed I can use Windows ME. I've checked the the mobo has W98 compatible things on it.

If Visual Studio's installer builder allows you to execute commands in the installation, you can let the MySQL installer run in silent mode. I use Inno Setup for installers, so I'm clueless myself. But it's an idea.

    T The Cake of Deceit

I'm dumbfrazzled myself. I just have two columns in the list view, and want to at least read the CSV and parse it in. I don't need to transform LV's into CSVs, as I write to the CSV. All I ask is for a simple way to read and write CSVs, with an easy to to add the CSV items into a list view. Nothing to complicated, just an int and string in two columns. If there are missing Cs, my keyboard's C key isn't very responsible, sorry about that.

    T The Cake of Deceit

I'm not too worried about sharing - it's all in the user's home directory (my excess Linux use is reflecting off Windows, wow) and I'd like a nice simple two-way wrapper. If I can read it with foreach, it shouldn't be too hard to add the items into a ListView... BTW, CP seems to randomly barf XML errors after loading various pages, so if you see a double post, not my fault.

    T The Cake of Deceit

I've actually written a program - I'll post it later, but right now, I'm having difficultly with this problem: storing a high sore list. I'd prefer a cross-platform (should be generic enough to also work on Mono) way to store the scores and some other variables in a text file, and easily read, parse into a ListView/DataGridView and write. I don't want to use SQL Server or Access, as they are overkill for my needs.

Windows Installer. It is ungodly slow. I uninstalled this really tiny app that had MSIs, dear god it was forever on the "preparing" and "cancelling" stage. Installation mostly freezes at the "registering" stage. I wrote an Inno-based installer for Eclipse, and we know how large that is. It just went on, zippily. Microsoft failed at installers. Note to self: DEB/RPMs (Linux only, I love that penguin - wish Windows had a good package manager) and ZIPs first, NSIS and Inno second, MSI never.
