So, considering that there are two dozens of them, why are Jordan (an absolute monarchy) and Egypt (one of the biggest allies of USSR during the Cold War) the only Arab recipients of US aid? If the aid is distributed according to (1) being a Middle East democracy and (2) supporting US during the Cold War, then Turkey should be drowning in US economic aid by now? What I wonder is, does US classify Arab governments as being pro-democracy/anti-democracy, or rather being pro-Israel/anti-Israel. Isn't that another proof of US's Israel-centric Middle East policy? US is buying nearby Arab governments' sympathy towards Israel using its citizens' most valuable tax-dollars. If that's so, then hush money would be a better term than economic aid.

John Carson wrote: As you are no doubt aware, the set of criticisms to which you have replied intersects but is rather different from the set of criticisms to which I referred. I did not, for example, claim that the US armed Iraq, nor would I dispute what you say about France, Russia and China in this respect. My intention was not to deny what you said, but to mitigate it with other facts. There is simply no doubt that the US (and in particular the CIA) have gotten their hands dirty. ------------------------------------------ "What happened in that Rhode Island club is shocking. A few years ago a bunch of traders out performed all others. Their method? Using a dartboard to select the stocks to invest in. Damned war is driving the dollar down and the South African Rand up (because gold is nice to have during war and SA has lots of gold, so we are popular during war) which means my GBP are loosing value. True, but (at least from what I've seen) when that happens the poster comes back with a "hey what gives message." But, like you've said, I guess I can't know for sure. Jeremy Falcon
