I can tell that your teachers weren't very good, but I've met some pretty good teachers that saw teaching as a way to express their own ideas about a subject they truly felt for. My teacher in analysis/design for example was also an amateur actor, besides actually working as a freelance consultant in his field, and he made a wonderfull mixup of his talents in all those fields, that has prepared me for the job I have now. Another good teacher I had, was my teacher in networks. He was still working daytime as chief developer in one of our big tech companies, but he found that teaching enriched his life, and it felt like he really enjoyed pouring from his knowledge.
