The Image utility that comes with Win 7 is awesome. It uses its own compression method, and the total size of the Backup on DVD can be far less than the USED SPACE on the hard disk. And yes, its reliable, the only catch is when you have to restore the image, use the last disk first... :)

  • Hard Disk Bad Sector/Fault Analysis Tool
    T The Sky Winner

I am sure its not memory, I tried memtest. Motherboard can be the reason, but don't know how to check if motherboard is faulty. Hard disk is very old, so I doubt it to be the reason.

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

    Nice Quote... :P

  • Hard Disk Bad Sector/Fault Analysis Tool
    T The Sky Winner

I have doubt that my hard disk is having problem since few days. I had Windows 7 installed earlier, which was working fine, soon it started giving BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). I reinstalled Windows 7, but didn't work. I tried installing Win xp SP2, still failure. Somehow I am able to install Win 2000, which freezes after sometimes, but it runs fine in safe mode. So, please suggest me a tool to analyse my hard disk and find out whether it is faulty and does it have any bad sectors or not. I have 5 partitions in hard disk. Please suggest such a tool that supports Win 2000. Other option is I have Ubuntu Live CD, I can run linux off that CD without any installation. So, if there is any linux utility, please suggest that as well. Thanks in Advance.

If you haven't switched off the main connection. i.e. the switch of the plug to which your power cord is connected, then there are chances, that if you switch on other switches that are running through same line, it switches on your PC. At my home in my room, I have PC's power cord connected to a plug. If by mistake I don't switch off it, there is another switch in the room that lights on my room's tube light, switching on tubelight sends signal to my PC to turn on. Strange but true.

  • Bloody Politics
    T The Sky Winner

I too think Shiv Sena and MNS (another stupid party) are just bunch of idiots. But the reason why Pakistani players are being protested by those idiots is the 26/11 attacks. I don't know how much you know about politics of India and Pakistan. But a thorough analysis is required when we make statements in general that affects the whole class.

If the problem is they are Muslims, screw you.

For your kind information, we have more than few Muslim crickets in our Indian team. We cheer them more than Hindu cricketers and that too with pride.

Those guys have helped Indian economy grow, note it, "Indian" economy for over 20 years.

Oh really, thats news to me. I thought it was vice-a-versa. I need to improve my knowledge on economics I guess. :) In short, its easy to make statements rather than living. If you had been part of the 26/11 attack, you would know the torment people here had gone through. No Offense. DISCLAIMER: I don't support the actions of those stupid political parties, but at the same time I don't tolerate insane statements made without deep analysis of politics, which might offense my country.

Buddy, No offence, but maybe your logic is weak. Because, not only driver updates require a reboot. Check this out. It was an IE Update. http://geekswithblogs.net/WinAZ/archive/2010/01/24/win-7-update-boot-loop.aspx[^]

    T The Sky Winner

It didn't allow to boot into safe mode either. I tried each and every possibility, then only re-installed. And it wasn't a driver problem, because it happened only after Windows Update.

  • Why Windows 7 (x64) (For some so called Weven) sucks today...
    T The Sky Winner

Installed Fresh Win 7, installed all Dev Tools (VS 2008, SQL 2008...etc.). Saw some updates under the hood of Windows Updates. Filtered them out, and installed the Critical Security updates. Asked to restart the PC. I did. Saw message of "Configuring Windows"...automatic restart happened after the message... and . . . . It keeps on restarting over and over again and again till eternity. Windows is screwed. Tried Repair and Restore. Nothing worked out as I had only one restore point to restore to. Reformatted the hard drive and installed the same sucker Windows. But this time, kept NO WINDOWS UPDATES (ASK ME NEVER) option. God help Microsoft.
