  • The Great Global Warming Swindle
    J JWood

I guess the fact that we are all now admitting that the Earth is getting warmer is a step in the right direction. Of course there are other reasons to conserve if the the global warming doesn't move you - dwindling oil supplies, prices skyrocketing, etc. etc. Personally I think both side are a little extreme. Personally I object to Kyoto because it is an international treaty that is being used to gradually make us all accept the primacy of international law - i.e. once we bow down and make our national laws and policy subservient to these international laws, we lose more freedom, and another layer of unelected government is put into place. We should conserve, but not at the pace of some pushy socialist beaurocrats. And carbon trading is ridiculous.

Oh who cares? Bush will bomb the crap out of them just before the end of his term and that will leave the next president to clean up the mess like neo-conmen always do. Nothing I can do about it.

    J JWood

Nope. There is nothing in the constitution that mentions immigration. Unless you want to consider illegal immigrant to be "Foreign invaders". AND under the tenth Amendment "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved for the States respectively, or to the people." The people being the local citizens.

  • New Car gets 1,900 MPG
    J JWood

http://www.fun-on.com/technology190407a-Eco-marathon.php[^] The team from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo won the first Shell Eco-marathon Americas with a gasoline-fueled combustion engine vehicle that delivered 1,902.7 mpg.cal poly, Eco-marathon The Eco-marathon challenges student teams to design and build the most fuel-efficient vehicles, which are tested in a mileage challenge. The Eco-marathon concept started as the Shell Mileage Marathon in 1939 after a friendly wager between employees of Shell Oil’s research laboratory in Wood River, Illinois, as to whose car could get the better fuel mileage. Shell has been running the current Eco-marathon for more than 20 years in the Europe and the UK, and brought a version of the event to the US for the first time this year. The Eco-marathon Americas ran April 13 -14, 2007, at the California Speedway in Fontana, California. Shell challenged the engineering students to drive their vehicles the farthest distance using the least amount of fuel, either conventional or alternative. Twenty-three teams competed in the combustion engine category. Second-place went Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, IN) at 1,637.2 mpg, with third-place going to Mater Dei High School (Evansville, IN) at 1,596 miles per gallon. The Los Altos Academy of Engineering (Hacienda Heights, CA), the sole hydrogen engine entrant, came it with 1,038 mpg. The 2007 European Shell Eco-marathon event is set to take place at the Nogaro Racing Circuit in the South of France on May 11-13, 2007. With more than 250 teams from educational institutions in 20 different countries, this year’s event is set to be the biggest ever. The teams are not only competing to break the European Shell Eco-marathon fuel efficiency record, but also competing for a host of other awards in various categories—from best Urban Concept vehicle (designed for normal road car use), to the most eco-friendly vehicle with the lowest emissions, best technical innovation, most impressive design and most effective communications campaign.

  • Why Do They Hate America?
    J JWood

I think exactly we should be getting back to that exact constitution that has been eroded by generations of elitist idiots, who do everything in their power to chip away at those rights. Free speech, right of the people to bear arms in their own defense, the right to be free from military occupation, the right to privacy, the right to defend yourself in court, with a fair court, and a jury, freedom from torture are all worthy causes that should not be slighted in any way.

Many votes, I am guessing by the same IP address - although I would think any web designer worth his paycheck would be able to filter that out. They just dropped his name several times from the options for GOP candidates and now they are clearing the blog-roll after the online story on the debate. Very suspicious. Good old 1st amendment is only for pushy media types and criminals, I guess.

He is a Republican, but a small-government Republican. He isn't as extreme as the libertarians in the Libertarian or Constitution Parties. He has been quite popular in his Texas district, even though he has definitely does not follow the party line. And he was consistantly returned to office.

    The Back Room com question

  • Ron Paul
    J JWood

In case you haven't heard - Ron Paul is a libertarian candidate for the GOP nomination who is anti-war, pro small government. He has recieved consistently high scores in online opinion polls that included him (Many only include the ones that represent certain interests). According to many polls he won the debate in the Reagan library. ABC is now claiming that the apparent popularity is because of poll spam. However, if you look at YouTube - he's gotten many unique very positive reviews, he's very popular with people I know - internet savvy people who are also fairly non-conformist. I think the MSM are bald faced lying to try to surpress this GOP candidate because the special interests - both on GOP and dems want the war to continue. Judge for yourself based on his answers in the debate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_oTzFMuU_M (It's six minutes)
