In my case it is my own company and all the reward I need is a) Money b) knowing that I'm making a difference for the small businesses around the globe that use my software to in turn make themselves more money. If I wanted to get a good happy feeling I'd be programming for scientific and / or medical research or something. An area that *truly* helps people in the long run beyond my time here, programming on an open source project would *not* give me that feeling of having contributed because open source is not a cause I believe in in the first place and let's face it, most of it is only of benefit to cheap computer users not society as a whole. Firefox is a prime example, you can get a good feeling from having contributed to it but in the big picture it means absolutely nothing to society, you are making a free replacement for something that comes free with all pc's in the first place, you aren't benefiting anyone other than a bunch of computer geeks. They'll add more attributes or few keywords ( heck 'internal' and one more was the only original one but does it ripple into mess in C++/CLI ) to express parallelism and lack of side-effects. However, at least it was an engineering team behind C++/CLI. And it was technically outstanding, nothing out there like it. Only a mother could read it though; yet they rely on those same guys for giving them a compiler for many things they sell as products/baseline-for-all-else.

Well, id's Quake Engines come to mind, as well as the Unreal Engines. Other than that, and if its not game specific, what about Torque, Irrlicht and other more affordable products? If the application is simple, Blitz3D might enable you to implement it fairly quick... I've experienced coding against a trial of Actipro's and also an old version of Syncfusions and my preference would be Actipro if I had a project that could justify the cost. Don't know about VSX at all. I recently had a look at SharpDevelop's latest release and the whole thing seemed much easier to use than I remember although there is very little documentation for it so if you're stuck you have to ask on the forums or look at the source code. Actipro will have the benefit of many more examples, every example for #Develop points you to the #Develop code and this is just too big and abstract for many things. My Blog[^]

Just cannot believe it is so expensive PER piece, so anyone with experience of Taiwan manufacturers in IP camera space could help out a lot :) Take a look at a price of a very, very good desktop camera (okay, you'd need repeaters for USB power say), put into a casing and 'environment' infrastrucure (Linux or Windows backed hardware) twice that price, it still beats it by 300% or more margin (more likely get to build a supercomputer with 1500$ a piece say).. must be me, hence the query.
